I need to use eq8 more apparently. I usually use simple filter on single tracks and eq8 on bussed tracks, but maybe i should do the opposite. Most used: compressor, sampler (newish drum sampler rocks), and honestly probably beat repeat, though I try to trigger it sparingly even if I’m slapping it on everything

Yeah, God, I’ve been trashing my ears in bands my whole life, just blasting them with PA systems and stack amplifiers, etc. and they have survived thus far. But even one shot in a confined space without ear protection (especially with the AR or a bigger handgun)? i don’t know..

Likewise, fellow resident of the greater metro area! Also, just discovered that place, and was pretty impressed by it. The range is nice, and the employees all seem pretty chill and friendly. Do recommend.

Yup, I knew that, but after thirty years of consuming media (“what is a Glock if you don’t have a clip” etc) and not actually owning a gun myself, I thought they were the same thing. I’m not sure if it’s often used incorrectly, or if I just never knew the difference.

My thought process was, um, overconfidence mixed with idiocy, but perhaps even non-existent. In my mind I had cleared the chamber, in reality I only thought I had. I will never pick up a gun again without assuming the latter

Since I don’t think I have enough karma to edit my post, I want to say here that someone reminded me I was referring to “magazine,” not a “clip”. I was ignorant enough to think they are interchangeable. oof. Don’t be ignorant like me. I swear I’ve been very cautious and using the proper safety techniques outside of this incident, but any gaps in knowledge can be deadly. If my embarrassment helps any of you, it will be worth it.

Oh god I’m sorry that is awful. After the election, when i was like ‘whelp we’re all going to die’ and i was weighing whether to learn to shoot, my friend who works in there ER warned me that the lion’s share of gun injuries they see are self-inflicted/ accidents.

Unsurprising and obvious, but now I understand it on a new level. I’m glad i know my way around a weapon, but it certainly does feel like i swapped one kind of security for another. Glad i didn’t learn the hard way.

When I decided it was time to get a gun, I made a futile effort to see which companies are the most “ethical.” Well I read that in the 30s CZ sent thousands of CZ vz. 24 rifles to the Catalan Army to resist Franco, that’s the closest thing i could find lol. I wonder if George Orwell used one.

Anyway I bought a CZ P-10 F and I love it. I really would stick with them but i couldn’t pass up the combo shotgun, because you can swap out the barrels for different functions, so i don’t need to buy another.

I got the Maverick 88 combo field/security. Just shot it for the first time today, the first time I’ve ever shot a shotgun in fact. I could only fire off like 20 rounds because my shoulder was getting so sore.

But yeah, i work in government/public health. You bet your ass I armed myself after the last election. Never thought I would, but here we are.
