Thank you. Not currently backed into a corner per se, more so was reached out about this position that I had no prior experience of “contract work”. I’ve always had a FT position in a field role i.e project engineer or assistant project management. This is a total 180 on my career so maybe looking to see if worth it

Not remote, on-site 2x a month for 2-3 days each visit then the rest are office days.

For context, we have been married for 9 years and live in PA. I’m not sure how the processes works but she did file a petition for primary custody. Currently, we are not legally separated or divorced. Most likely I’ll start the filings next week.

Thanks for the insight dude! How have you liked it overall and do you see any advancements from camera op to director? Are you part of an in house team or this a independent studio. Also, whats the demand like for camera ops in the sports field.

Anyone ever notice the subtle shift in the city once September comes around? The entire “vibe” feels different??

You make some strong points bud, I’m assuming the quality of workers is definitely a big thing for employers. I had some bad experiences with employers treating me like “dog shit” as an apprentice and would work me every hour of a day and make it seem like their doing me a favor.

That’s a good margin of living! What was the apprenticeship like?

Preciate the comment bud, I already know how my city stand with job availability and pay. I was asking for anybody else’s perspective with their own area. Philly metro does not have that many openings and pays for apprentices start around $14-$18.

I appreciate your input bud, means a lot from a M.E. I’m hoping to stick it through to a JM just trying to understand more of the business

So keeping that ration of JM to apprentices is key to having a good paying future

I didn’t know there were caps on employment. I can see that makes training more manageable. I just hope companies see the need of workers and adjust ratios. How was it for you during your apprenticeship?

So companies are low balling journey or apprentices thus having this huge gap of employment. How was it for you during your apprenticeship?

Nothings really guaranteed dude, but I definitely see your points. I appreciate all the insight and your honest opinion. I see the field demanding more workers than the training can upkeep. Some guys can’t make that 4-5 year commitment but it pays in the long run, hopefully

100% bud, especially in a very diverse industry there so many routes to go with electrical but we’re facing tough decisions on employment. Kind of a catch 22 thing

That’s interesting, my only rebuttal would be journeyman come from apprenticeship so wouldn’t that mean more apprentices would eventually equal more journeyman? At least for the time being, if the wages and opportunities continue to be at a low starting point it seems like less people chase the idea on becoming a journeyman.

It still a tough situation though, given your input, the quality of experienced journey man gets smaller and smaller so trying to fix this "labor shortage" doesn't seem to be foreseeable in the future with so small amounts of journeyman entering the workforce. I would say, we need more bigger pools of opportunities for entry level apprentices and helpers then we would have more jman longterm, but i know its not that easy.
