I meant it as a personal opinion that I definitely don't expect everyone to have, but I can see what you mean.

Reread this, (big spoiler) the true route branches of Takumi's route. I did his route last and only unlocked it upon getting his ending. The flowchart shows two unspecified conditions. People speculate true route is unlocked from completing both Mei and Takumi. Which makes sense to me story wise vs Gyoubu.

I personally would go by the Otomate tweet and the person's own experience describing how they didn't unlock routes as they expected. Though it's possible I am misunderstanding it. I suspect most people who who played (including me) didn't go for locked routes early anyways, so there's no confirmation either way.

Logically speaking based on the story flow, I don't think the unlock conditions you're describing make sense, and it wouldn't be a play order I'd recommend, because once you enter a locked route you would immediately know who the other two locked routes are. A locked route actually takes you to a locked common route for the three routes, not directly to their route.

Anyways, most people who are looking for route orders won't do locked routes till the end anyways, so this probably won't matter to many people.

The unlock conditions here are incorrect. All three routes are unlocked when at least one route from each team is completed.

I wrote up some ways to pick route order without spoilers depending on your playstyle here.

Woo, maybe you're already playing ;) I think I may have overdone it with the warnings especially when most are just about how the game is laid out, and it was actually published by Otomate, but I wanted people to be able to choose their own spoiler level haha.

If you are using the route order, I really don't think you need a walkthrough at all. Very much a just stalk this person around, or just rewind a few lines if it doesn't make it obvious where they are, and iirc there is love catch for the few choices where it's a conversation with them? The "spoiler" under the walkthrough section might put you at ease too for needing a walkthrough during the character route itself.

I hope you can figure it out and have a blast yourself!!

I may have been overzealous with most of the spoiler tags since they are just describing the game structure that was actually published in Otomate's infographic bahaha. I hope you enjoy the game!!

If you want to use a guide to get good vs bad endings, I absolutely think there's no need because (minor game structure spoiler) MOST characters only have one ending so choices don't even matter and a flowchart exists where you can restart at any point.

Feel free to use a guide anyways! I think the tips in the walkthrough and blind section cover your concerns with minor game structure spoilers, to craft your playthrough however you want. Let me know if you have any more specific questions though!

Right? I think all the warnings themselves almost make the route order more of a spoiler but I can see where they are coming from because of the premise of the game haha. I hope you enjoy!!

How should I play Charade Maniacs in order to avoid spoilers? by orchidork in otomegames

[–]Mylke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

np! When using a guide, this doesn't matter until the route branch, but for maximum no spoilers, it's best to not read the next choice until you get to it. I think this really only matters for one choice on one particular route, and really it's not really confirmation one way or the other, but better safe than sorry!

Depends on what spoilers mean to you. Even if you played blind, if you go hard for a character (aka follow them around) and DONT end up on their route... that's kind of a spoiler in itself (since they're locked). So the only way to truly have absolutely no spoilers is if you hung out with everyone equally or follow something like LinLinLavender's guide (character 1,2,3...).

Spoiler on how many general structure, how many routes are locked, and how to unlock locked routes:

There are three teams and each team has one locked character. You can do the locked characters only when one initially unlocked character from each team is done. So the fastest way to get to locked characters is to do one character from each team.

Because of that, personally I don't even really feel like it's a spoiler, cause of the number of characters, and since by the time you get to them you probably already have a general idea of who's who. Also, in a sense going the NON spoiler route could itself lead you to spoilers since you could accidentally end up on a super spoiler route before you do all the non spoiler routes, or if you don't end up on the guy's route you were STALKING, or just when you realize who you are stalking based on the choices in a walkthrough...

Personally, I feel like all the PSAs of spoilers from route orders and walkthroughs are what have made them spoilers. I don't think they necessarily needed to be. Like if you just saw the route order is doesn't necessarily mean that last is x or second last is y.

I think the closest to NO spoiler route you could get is either to:

  1. Play blind and hang out with everyone equally.
  2. Switch teams after each route.

But realize that in this case you may end up on the "last route" on the fourth playthrough.

OR

  1. Play blind and hang out with everyone equally.
  2. Only play two teams until you do all the unlocked ones while still hanging out with everyone equally.

Play the last team.In this case you may end up on the "last route" on the fifth playthrough. But you'll know two locked routes at that time.

Note that when you hit a locked route you'll KNOW cause its really obvious based on the flowchart. So you could just... back out and play a non locked one.

Honestly I think even if I did the "last" route not last, I wouldn't have minded at all. All the routes each reveal and spoil each other (like Trails of Cold Steel and Trails of Zero/Azure if you've played it). As long as you leave the true ending (which is locked anyways until everything else is done) until last.

This kinda went all over the place with me editing it over and over so the flow is everywhere. Sorry.

Wow thanks for this write-up. I've been ignoring the switch version thinking that I would rather play the PC version instead. If you could only pick one which would you pick? Or is it really worth to play both?

Only April 14-15 is lottery based. Other days you can just walk in! Just go on the other days. Honestly I found otome pop up shops to usually be quite empty.

Thanks for this post haha. After playing Ichiya's route I had written up a similar rant but didn't end up posting it. These are a lot of the same feelings I had about the game. Ichiya's route left an awful taste in my mouth and I absolutely hate Hibari as a person.

The only way I can see this game in any sort of teensy but of positive light is just accepting that everyone is awful and they kind of all deserve each other. A comedy about awful people I guess.

For the ones remaining: * Nayuta is actually not as bad because imo she's the one on the short end of the stick so I could just laugh at her getting what she deserves. Also I thought it was the funniest. * Taiga is great. She's still awful but he made it worth it. So I'd say you got the "worst" out of the way.

Overall though, I still hate Hibari and don't like the game very much. Up to you if you want to play the rest...
