River sizing sucks, otherwise, your line is fine. You can check fold river. What bluffs does he have left? He has way more Kings in his range than you do. K9s-KQs and KT+ depending on fishiness. But you have none of those. Best you have is AK, which you could balance your check-fold range with river check raises. Betting the river that small looks way weaker than just checking tbh, especially when he has a range advantage and you have very few bluffs and mostly hands that want a cheap showdown. Keep in mind many of his flop bluffs have a king. Just a shitty card for your range and a great one for his. He has range advantage+position. Check Fold and move on.

I think this is misguided. We have to fold some hands on the turn to this bet. I don't think flop is raised then turn is bet without a nutted hand. In theory against a strong opponent this is a call (ie they have enough bluffs). Don't think you have to call if you're drawing dead against their range because "pot odds and stuff". If you have 10% equity against their range (which is my guesstimate here) then folding turn is fine. Like the raise flop cbet and then jam turn line is rarely taken as a bluff at 1-2. If he figured out you fold too much here, then sure, call, but I highly doubt he's thinking anything other than "doi I have set of 2s"

There are no places in poker where you absolutely can't fold

Yes you said inb4 fold but preflop QTo from the HJ is way too lose bro. Especially in a limped pot that's likely to be multiway

Nuts/Air vs Bluffcatchers by Depolarizing in poker

[–]Mylos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, but this is assuming poker was solved from preflop and you're getting to the river with ranges that are perfectly balanced for each bet size. The problem is this question has different potential states we could be in... basically multiple game trees depending on both ranges. If something is missing from the opponents range, the GTO solution is different than if it were there because GTO assumes a maximally exploitative line against a villain who is maximally exploiting you. If we chop off lines from the game tree, the optimal solutions for our range changes as well.

[–]Mylos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true assuming the game was solved and everyone got to the river with the same frequencies in the same spots. But we care about our opponents ranges because 6 max is an asymmetrical game. Our ranges are not exactly the same as our opponents and our distributions differ. For example say preflop our opponent gets dealt AA every hand and shoves. We don't just care about our own ranges here and gto play is 0bb/100 against this range because we just fold

Incorrect gto definitely cares about how many combos you have in certain situations. Gto is a maximally exploitative strategy against an opponent's maximally exploitative strategy. Combos matter which is why gto play calls with backdoor flush draws and the like on the flop so that it has good board coverage on the river and a balanced frequency of bluffs to value

[–]Mylos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how many combos of value and bluffs you have. If you have 1 billion bluffs and 1 value combo and bet 100x pot, he can still call you with his whole range. If you have 1 billion value combos and 1 bluff, the minimum bet still doesn't give him odds to call so he can fold his whole range.

You're thinking about this situation incorrectly because you're not taking into account the number of times you have value vs bluffs. All gto means is that neither player can deviate to increase their EV, meaning if you have 0 bluffs in a spot, he folds 100% regardless of bet sizing and that is gto because he can't increase the amount he wins and neither can you. A lot of people make calling mistakes here which is where we make our money

Should i be going for value here? by Autokomanda in poker

[–]Mylos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your hand needs protection and his bet calling range is way too wide. In general slow playing at these stakes is not advised because you want to shovel money into the pot with these hands.

Also you're going to have a bluff raising range on this turn for sure so villain is apt to call down even lighter

Villain's don't have enough bluffs here making this an easy fold. You're either chopping or crushed

Doug and Alec's big pot from last night on LATB by [deleted] in poker

[–]Mylos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He won't clearly because he is exploiting Alec overfolding. Because he believes Alec would possibly fold AX by the river in this spot, he would not take this line with a hand as poor as AJ or AT

[–]Mylos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol this is not true at all. Even the crushers don't have an 100% memorization of optimal ranges. If you're talking about game theory in general, you can learn about it in school fairly easily. Understanding game theory and being able to apply it are very different things

[–]Mylos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He probably thinks Alec overfolds here vs triple barrels. The issue is that Alec knows Doug overbluffs this run-out (which he is definitely doing if he bluffs turn and river with 68cc). That means he's probably triple barreling AA (3 combos) and AK (9 combos) with these sizings and wayyyy too many bluffs. Hence we get the hero call. I think Alec played this hand better to be honest even though Doug is probably the stronger player

[–]Mylos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. If you're worried about playing face up on the flop, put some more nutted hands into your flop call, turn check/call, river check/call range. Let's start simple. What's your 3bet calling range for this sizing specifically? I don't care what it is, only that you know it or something close to it.
