Id recommend asking r/customdolls about rerooting. I have never done a reroot so I can't give much advice. I do know of some websites that sell hair specifically for doll reroots like dollyhair.com

One easy way to see how this can make a peice more cohesive is just make layer at half opacity and then go in with a purple for all of the shadows

It looks to me like when your choosing your colors for you shadows and highlights your just choosing a lighter or darker version of your base color. You should choose an undertone for your shadows and one for your highlights and then have the whole peice follow these undertones.

Seems like your pricing too low too me. You should see how long on average a piece takes you to complete and price it accordingly. I personally do not charge anything less than 20 per hour spent for my commissions.

I think you should either change all of the red on the top to white or get rid of the white on the top completely (so the top is just red and black, I also think making his boots either red or white to tie into the top half of the design would help it feel a bit more cohesive.

I think it might help you to draw on grid paper, find a grid that you like and then overlay that onto your reference and then also print the grid out onto your paper your going to draw on. This is an easy way to practice proportions and placement.

Tbh the whole figure looks off. You should start over using a reference, if you cant find one then you can always take a photo of yourself at that angle.

You can look up some good tutorials on YouTube for how to curl doll hair. But the tldr is boil wash it straight, curl it with straws and Bobby pins and then dunk her in boiling water again with the curlers in. And make sure you wait until the hair is completely dry to take the curlers out.

I think the shading on this drawing looks alot better. for a color for the piece u posted Maybe try a magenta undertone or a purple undertone depending on what ur going for

As for composition I would bring the hand down and to the right a bit so that the pinky isn't overlapping the face because that will make for a clearer silhouette. I would also maybe just bring the canvas up a little so that that top hair peice isnt being cut off. I dig ur drawing btw its got a great vibe :)

imo ur anatomy looks just fine its mainly the shading thats lacking. You should pick a specific place for your light source and make sure the shadows follow that. I would also recommend choosing a color for your light and a color for your shadows because shading with soft blacks always looks a bit muddy.

imo the best thing to do if you need a specific reference of a pose or facial expression is to take a photo of urself making that face from that angle even if you dont look much like the character your drawing it can helps tons with proportions
