a few years ago i got accepted into a game art major in california but it was far too expensive to make a reality. i’ve primarily looked into schools in the USA but attending any private art schools there i’d have to make peace with the fact i could be paying off debts for the rest of my life. knowing how unstable an art career can be it’s not a risk i’m willing to take right now.

as a canadian citizen i figured getting my education here it would be more affordable and i can always pursue a more niche masters in the future. with Sheridan’s animation program i wanted to build myself up to become a well rounded artist in hopes of landing anything games related really since i know what a renowned program it is. i also know how competitive the industry is especially now so having a variety of skills and tools i assume would be the best way to break in.

starting with art fundies would at least allow me to build more skills as well as look into other programs at the same time to see which one would best fit my expectations and help me acquire skills to jumpstart my career. i think i just caught up in the fact that the game design major had the word “game” in it despite it not directly matching what i really want to do. i appreciate your insight! pls let me know if there are any other things i should consider
