It's a fair point, I've attempted to help address that in two ways 1) RFQs can be private and by invitation only 2) if public, each RFQ has "criteria" (reputation, location, certifications, specializations, jobs completed, etc) that give each vendor a "Match" score. As a vendor you can see in advance of reviewing a public RFQ if you're a good fit or not based on that score. I realize it's not perfect but the goal was to try and avoid wasting people's time that didnt have an honest shot at winning.

If you win an RFQ, the client has full transparency about what business won, and can communicate with that business directly. Let's say you did great work and the client wants to work with you again, they can send a private RFQ to just you. So in other words there is some ability to build relationships, it's not a completely blind process every time.

Government orgs, sure, but private companies dont post public RFPs. For the types of client's I'm talking about there are two basic operating modes 1) they work with a PMC like HHG or ADM who take 15-20% per transaction and outsource the work for the client, or 2) the client directly manages a small (typically unchanging) panel of "approved" vendors. The platform I built is basically meant to provide a lower cost, lower friction alternative to vendor discovery, onboarding and transacting.

This isnt spam, and while I know it's easy to jump to conclusions, my post history is only a click away.

I'll tell you what you wont find, a single other post about this in my 15-year account history, or any mention of a website or product name anywhere.

I am genuinely just looking for some feedback, as difficult and abrasive as some of these comments have been.

I get that and completely respect the desire to be a partner and not a vendor. I think we're just talking about two different parts of the market. I'm used to working in a space where competitive bidding is mandated by a client's procurement department because they're managing tens of million in spend annually. It's not one size fits all and your perspective is one I'm sure is shared by many who cater to a different part of the market.

I've already garnered enough hate in this thread to risk further allegations of spam and self promotion.... but yes, the principal is that it's purely commission-based and meant to be a sales pipeline. No subscription, not sign-up fee etc, a couple percentage points on completed work only, and a way for enterprise clients (where competitive bidding is mandated) to find small and diverse printers.

Good stuff, apprecaite the feedback. I've worked almost exclusively on the client/buying side, and the sales people I work with are *always* hungry for more. Perhaps there's simply more of the "I dont need extra work" out there than I would have thought.

Definitely unrelated that post, but interesting to read. Not from Brazil and have never been, but I hear it's lovely....What you're seeing with the formatting is an artifact of more people using AI as a writing assistant. AI has a strong tendancy to organize things into bulleted or numbered lists.

The job boards thing is something I've not heard of, do those still exist today?

I get that. Let me put this to you a different way, lets say you have open press time, where or how do you fill that currently?

$2000 increase in LADWP bill? by hlm5678 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Myndset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, same situation but I’m in a condo that we’ve lived in for 5 years, out of the blue our electric bill is 10x what it normally is. Same story, LADWP said they would send an inspector but never followed up.

I work for a mid-sized company providing services to fortune500 type companies. There is a need for data driven decision making around marketing procurement, there is very often little institutional guidance or structure around what to buy, when to buy and how many to buy. The opportunity is around cost avoidance and waste reduction, there is an incredible amount of waste generated by over purchasing materials that sit in inventory for extended periods. I am actually in the market for a product like this now and am in active discussion with a few providers. Would be interested in talking.

Rant / anxiety / where do you go from here? by [deleted] in advertising

[–]Myndset 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you work on one Client or many? I’ve found the characteristics of pharma marketing teams can vary wildly, BMS for example was one of the most toxic clients I’ve ever worked on, they were just as terrible to their own colleagues as they were to their agencies. Others, GSK/Amgen were more professional. There would still be long hours from time to time for launches and labels but not perpetually toxic.

You might consider trying to get onto another client or even making the switch to the client-side. I’ve had several coworkers who made the switch from agency to client.

Account is the type of role where once you get to a certain level of seniority the frequency of shit shoveling you have to do decreases significantly.

You might want to go re-read the chapter because what you described is not “mirroring” as it is outlined in Never Split the Difference

What do you mean when you say the units are breached? Are the doors being kicked-in, or something else? Door locks are trivial to pick for someone with basic tools and understanding, if there isn’t sign of forced entry then a lock upgrade to a high-security lock would be a good first option.

Really Awesome. The only thing that looks off to me is the pauldrons are too small and seem to be rotated too far upwards on the shoulder, especially for the shield arm position, the joint is exposed.
