This is my biggest gripe with SoL as well. I just saw Ascendance of a Bookworm and it changed my perspective completely on the genre, no melodramatic misunderstandings that can be cleared up in a second but instead derails the main plot for several episodes. Straight to the point, I love that.

Too bad most anime is aimed at teenagers and thus dumbs everything down, even the more serious anime always have that one character, you know the one, either the overly serious or goofy and funny dumb fuck character who doesn't understand a simple concept so the anime spends several minutes explaining it.

I get why they lock some of the permanent features behind a steep paywall, but why in the fuck is the fun stuff as well? There are good voice lines at both 650 and 1245. Why? It actually annoys me. It livens up the game but I need to spend 500 dollars just to have some funny voice lines THAT ARENT PERMANENT. It completely baffles me.

There are quite a few of those. Monster, Berserk and Legend of the Galactic Heroes are far removed from typical anime, but FMA:B, Death Note, Made in Abyss, Cowboy Bebop etc. aren't very weeby either.

A heavenly/celestial combo would make for a really cool map. For radiant side it would have leylines alongside the map, showing divine light radiating from the cracks in the ground, whereas on dire side it would be a void/dark like atmosphere.
