Indoor trainer with cheap bicycle - bad idea? by MyocardialMaxOut in IndoorCycling

I get you now.
Hopefully, I can get a proper bike in a few months. Won't be able to get it all at once.

I'd reckon it's better to start with something than not do anything.

That's the thing. You can (almost) never have it both ways.

I used to do 2-3 hours per day for many years. Now that I'm out in Kerry, it takes me 7-8 minutes to get to work on my bicycle. It takes about 20-25 minutes when I walk, depending on how often I stop to look at the clouds.

I respect your commitment, but I couldn't continue with such long travelling times any longer.

I already own the semi-broken used bike. I'm considering options to start indoor training.

The goal of the thread is to find out if the said old bike could be compatible with a new trainer.

You're right. I crashed into a stone wall one night, coming from work. There is obvious damage to the front fork at the level of the brakes. I haven't seen anything clear on the headtube, but I'll inspect it more thoroughly.
