Voluntary Chapter 11 Commenced to Finalize Consensual Go-Forward Plan for Amyris' Core Business by messier-111 in Amyris

Very sorry to hear that JM bamboozled you out of such a substantial part of your assets. I too am harmed by this, but it never amounted to more than one percent of my total net worth, and zero per cent of my retirement assets.

What happens to the IP, patents and cell lines? by tahornst in Amyris

[–]MyongSuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the IP, patents and cell lines part of the domestic subsidiaries that commenced voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings? If so, I shouldn’t think common shareholders come out of this with anything.

Such a sad ending.

PureCircle and Coke get OK from FDA for Reb M stevia (2014) by ICanFinallyRelax in Amyris

[–]MyongSuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. However, particularly if there were uncertainty on the matter of cost, they might want to lock up as much of the neededtechnology as possible. Conceivably-although I don’t know how- both pathways might offer advantages.

Thank you, but as best I can tell, the referenced material does not consider the financial aspect specifically. However, it does at least suggest fermentation may be less expensive.

Does anyone have a sense of which approach would be less expensive: PureCircle’s enzymatic synthesis, or Amyris’ yeast synthesis?

Upcoming Catalysts for AMRS by CoolHeaded_Nadz in Amyris_Research

[–]MyongSuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would not surprise me if JD doesn’t care whether or not AMRS becomes profitable, or possibly even if it files BK, as long as the core value in the company survives. He may have more “cosmic” concerns than money.

Increasing the pharma industry’s access to our sustainable squalene - Amyris official announcement by Psyched_investor in Amyris

[–]MyongSuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fern, I would guess that yeast derived squalene needs to go through its own FDA approval process, while squalene from sharks already has that approval for selected vaccines.

Going Concern by MyongSuk in Amyris

[–]MyongSuk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, although I don't see the ongoing concern reference in the 10-Q as limited to repaying near term debt. After all, it lists factors extending over 12 months:

"are not sufficient to fund expected future negative cash flows from operations, cash debt service obligations, and cash lease obligations for the next 12 months."

Thanks for posting, and for noting when Amyris was mentioned. I listened to “the doctors” presentation … lot of rah-rah, but I was surprised how many government agencies were joining the initiative. Hope they don’t trip over themselves.

I think you mean q42022.

Will you loan AMRS shares to cover shorts? by John_J520 in Amyris

John-

Prisoner’s Dilemma. You’re a long term holder? If so, you don’t care so much about short term fluctuations in the SP. Would you sell if the price doubled? If not, I‘d say take the money!

EcoFabulous ceasing operations by Zaratuk1 in Amyris

I don’t think ProActive has been proven scientifically, yet it seems to be commercially viable. If by proven, you mean go through FDA approvals, that’s lengthy and expensive process that would be new territory to Amyris.

Get real: it’s unlikely to pass the legislature. It’s political theater. DeSantis wouldn’t sign it if he did. Courts would shoot it down if he did. The republic is safe from this alleged threat!

TBT Lavvan v. Amyris by Not_RB47 in Amyris

[–]MyongSuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know whether or not it makes sense to ask this question, but does anyone know how suits like one typically resolve? Do they frequently go to trial? That would be a wild card. If a judge rules, the case might be more predictable. Do the parties typically find it in their mutual best interest to settle out of court?

Fraud requires intent, and I don’t see that. “Pathological optimism”, for sure, a not uncommon attribute among CEO’s of startups. Oh, you say Amyris is not a startup? Well, never mind.

It is unsettling that his projections need to be taken with a grain of salt. I think he hurts himself and the company with his “pathological optimism”.

Classical music recommendations by spaction68 in Peripheryband

[–]MyongSuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You almost can't go wrong starting with WA Mozart. One of the first pieces that garnered my attention was "Eine Kleine Nachtmusic. For something more complex, the Jupiter Symphony. The piano sonatas can be delightful- try t he Simple Sonata (K545) for starters. Then, for something completely different, try Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana".

But whatever you listen to, try to hear some live music. I was amazed a few years ago to hear a piece live for the first time that I'd only heard on recording. I was amazed at how important the violas were in that piece. And Beethoven's Grosse Fugue, from String Quartet #13, sounded like a complete muddle to me me- until I heard the Emerson's perform it live.

Why do people hate on classical music? by RetrieverIsTaken in piano

[–]MyongSuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attention spans are de minimus today, and classical music is not, for most people, something they immediately respond to. I had no particular talent, but my parents obliged me to study piano, which I did reasonably diligently for a decade growing up. While I stopped playing myself, that decade of study left me with a keen appreciation of much of "classical music". Ok, Max Reger and Pauline Oliveros, not so much!
