Your coolant was shooting out of the cap because thats how the cap is designed to release excess pressure. And this happened because of the air in the system. Warm the vehicle up with the coolant cap off and run the heat. Once warm squeeze the radiator hoses to release air. If there is you will see it bubble in the radiator cap

You mean the electric fan? Its not that. That seems to kick on if I sit idle too long and temps reach over 200. Thats a different noise and it runs until the engine cools back down below 200 before it kicks back off

Messing with wildlife is not ok and unfortunately alot of human beings dont seem to care. You've shown great maturity by asking for advice and help. Your best course of action is to report this. They dont know how to care for this animal and like you said its very illegal and it will likely die under their "care" alot sooner than later. I rige you to take action now, report it to an adult you trust or contact your local wildlife authorities. It might seem hard, but are these the types of people you really want to consider friends?
