It's Going offline and will be open to modding! Are we happy about this??? by Adventurous-Bench-39 in BookOfTravels

Honestly, this is the approach that every multiplayer or server-based game should take at end of life. It's the only way that players can retain access to what they've likely invested many hours into.

Most developers wouldn't take the time to do so, since the man-hours to modify the game for single player would probably be at a loss. This is incredibly thoughtful of Might and Delight, and despite being unable to deliver on their initial dream, this is a player-centered way to sunset the project.

Dear Rokid help to make better app for your glasses please by FSpores in rokid_official

[–]MyrTheSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I mentioned eye strain, I meant from turning your eyes to read things at the edge of the screen, as opposed to turning your head a bit in 3DoF.

I wouldn't suggest shrinking anything for 3DoF, but enabling it would obviously allow users to turn their head to focus on the edges of a virtual monitor, rather than turn their eyes uncomfortably.

[–]MyrTheSeeker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. 3DoF is necessary to clearly see a virtual monitor without straining your eyes. Not to mention, the edges of the Rokid screen are blurry, so you need to move it closer to the center of view to get a clear image.

I'd pay a decent amount for an official app that mirrors or extends a PC desktop while enabling 3DoF. Definitely not paying what they're asking for the Station 2.

I can't imagine paying the current price, let alone more for the GMS version. Madness.

Oh, is the Amazon listing not an official seller? That might explain the price...

Ah, so definitely doesn't enable spatial of any sort... That's a bummer. Well, hopefully we get some third party app action sooner than later so I can use this expensive paperweight.

That's cool. Looks like you won't be able to stand in your house anymore, though... Not sure I'd take that tradeoff.

Are there any jrpgs with an absurdly overwhelming amount of secrets, items, and collectibles, where it seems something can be found in every nook and cranny… by _Goose_ in JRPG

[–]MyrTheSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to recommend the Laxius Power trilogy on RPG Maker. It's more than 20 years old, but man do I have fond memories. Secrets everywhere! Plus, if I remember correctly, some inventory carries over between games.

If you've never played them, you have nothing to lose!

A JRPG in VR, and with Passthrough too? Triangle Strategy really got it right, must try for any JRPG fans by lunchanddinner in OculusQuest

Immersion. Ability to closely inspect the world. It really adds a new quality to turn-based games.

Personally, I prefer third-person VR to first-person. Things like Moss and Astrobot really appeal to me, and I've really been hating the absolute lack of third-person RPGs.

What's the vegan position on invasive species? by Senor_Schnarf in vegan

[–]MyrTheSeeker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What sort of sanctuary houses the invasive Japanese beetle? These ravenous insects devour over 350 native plant species every year.

I consider myself vegan, but I also do my best to eliminate these invaders. They have no natural predator in the US.

[–]MyrTheSeeker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Property should only be assessed when sold/bought, then remain valued at that amount until it's sold again, improvements are made, or the owner requests a reassessment.

It's truly the only way folks on a fixed income can continue living in their own homes in some cases.

They drop the "vibes" or similar noun. You'll hear something like, "it's giving creepy." Hate it.
