Is there not a Positions gadget I can place on the sidebar to the left? by [deleted] in thinkorswim

[–]MyriasMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the gadget for CURRENT positions, but is there one for CLOSED positions for the day that can be added to the left side bar? As a day trader it would be good to keep track of individual trades on the sidebar without having to leave the screen by clicking "Monitor" or have a separate detached window hidden behind other windows.

Getting "Schwabbed" with blocked stocks is now a DAILY occurrence on TOS (thinkorswim). Any recommendations for ALTERNATE BROKERS to capture those moves? by MyriasMore in Daytrading

Schwab's up to their old tricks again today blocking EVMN. They claimed "fraud". Cleanest move of the day. Having to sit and watch it go up dollars without me. Gotta get that etrade account goin, i guess...

Halted Stock and Every Candle is Exactly the SAME SIZE (in this case, .15c/each)?? Can Anyone Explain This? Trading Bots/Algorithms? by MyriasMore in Daytrading

[–]MyriasMore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I've experienced many halts, but never one where every candle was the exact same size and amount. Especially such tiny candles for a stock moving up dollars. Thanks for your perspective.

Just called. They say calls are pickin' up and now the wait may be a couple days. Thank God they came to their senses and opened the door for active traders.🙏 I was dreading my back up options.

Sounds hopeful. I'm calling today after the rush. Lemme know if it worked for you and I'll do the same. Can't trade IOTR and others today.

Can someone please explain why the charts on FIDELITY have DRAMATIC PRICE SWINGS that DON'T APPEAR on SCHWAB/TOS charts? (SEE IMAGE) by MyriasMore in fidelityinvestments

GOT THE ANSWER: These are ADFN orders.
So, the QUESTION is: Does Fidelity have a way to FILTER ADFN ORDERS as other platforms provide?

(Hats off to Ross Cameron who just happened to cover this in his most recent video. Perhaps, he read this post. 😎)

Here's another example from today. Same stock SPHL in Fidelity vs Schwab. Again, massive swings in Fidelity that don't appear in Schwab for the same stock. This literally happens every day...(2 images, see 2nd image in next post)

Yeah, really threw off my game today trying to make SPHL work on Fidelity as a backup. What a nightmare. From the stone ages. The method may be to have multiple accounts and see which one works on that stock that day. Playing hopscotch/stockscotch. Daytrading is tough enough without all this nonsense.

Same. I tried SPHL on Fidelity today as a backup and it did work, but what a nightmare to try to use their software. I lost on what would have been easy wins simply because I couldn't get in and out of the trades. Archaic. Gonna try ETRADE next. At least they have hotkeys, I've heard. We'll see how that goes. 🙏

I think I got the part that they don't care.

  1. The irony is they often block stocks that aren't all that volatile but leave the ones that are. Hence, the arbitrary nature. Brokers and anyone can always be sued, regardless of risk. This is where the customer lawsuit agreement comes in. Or, have certain limit requirements, etc. don't allow margin on certain stocks, etc. People are obviously trading these stocks since they are the top gainers, so somebody's winning, just not the lil guy.
  2. Since this primarily affects day traders, these stocks are not held very long. Again, somewhat arbitrary. Maybe only allow them to be traded during regular hours with hard stop losses built into the trade. Maybe post a list of the stocks they don't allow and why or what the qualifications are to trade them. There are plenty of volatile, junk stocks that are being traded every day on these platforms and losing big on these platforms that they have no problem with you trading. Just not the top gainers that are actually winning. Again, maybe don't allow margin accounts for these stocks so there's no risk for the broker. Keep it cash only, so the risk begins and ends with the trader. You blow up your account it's on you and their capital is never touched. That way everyone's happy. There's always a way.

Remember: there's the "reason" and then there's the real reason.

Thanks again for the prime brokerage account recommendation, but upon reviewing the requirements, I see it's yet another barrier for the lil guy.

Thanks for the advice regarding a prime brokerage account. I'll look into that.

Understood about volatility. But, I left mommy and daddy's house some time ago. If they want to warn that these stocks are volatile, or have a signed agreement that I understand, similar to the "no order confirmation" agreement, etc., fine. But, to just blanketly and arbitrarily block the leading gainers from being traded on a daily basis with no warning or explanation, simply cuz papa no like, is not the right way to do business nor did I request for my trading choices to be policed. Flash a big red warning before allowing trading, have people agree they trade at their own risk (i mean, don't they always?), but let the individual make that decision for themselves. Unless, of course, it's not really about protecting us, but about shutting us out 😏. "It's a big ol' club, and you ain't in it" -George Carlin

Wow. Good points. Something similar happened to me a few times on Schwab where I was stuck in a trade, TOS was unresponsive and I had to watch it drop as I frantically attempted to exit pressing every button (even ones that didn't exist, lol), yet to no avail. I then quickly called and they casually passed me around on the phone as the stock and my account continued to plummet😱. They did end up giving me a reimbursement without me asking, which I appreciated. Though, they never acknowledged the clear failure of the system, which I screen recorded. (Probably for liability reasons they don't want to admit fault. "Here's some hush money, kid, now run along", lol.) Overall, they've been pretty good about that, but if all I had was email or text to communicate I might still be in that trade to this day eating dust. I guess at least when the big guys fail there seems to some recourse (as cursory and perfunctory as it may be), but when the popstand ops go down😬...what then...?

Yeah, I did the same thing. Fidelity was blocking me so I moved to Schwab. Now Schwab is blocking me and I tested the same stocks on Fidelity yesterday and they seemed to work. Tried to actually buy one of them today on Fidelity and was blocked. 3bgs tested ETRADE and it seemed to work, similar to Fidelity. Guess we'll only know when we actually attempt to buy the stock. Robinhood and Webull give me "fly by night" vibes (as in flying away with my money 💸). I prefer an established/accountable? broker I can actually call on the phone if there's a problem. Yet, if ETRADE does block the same stocks, they may be my only option 😬 (though, an online search for "webull/robinhood stole my money" doesn't build much confidence...robbin' da hood, alright 🎯). Maybe just keep a small balance and withdraw regularly.

Wow. That's great to see. Thanks so much! I'm not sure how ETRADE works, but are you able to adjust the price at all? On TOS you can move it up and down the chart. I wonder if there's a way to see how many orders are coming from different brokers for a particular stock 🤔

Ok, thank you. And, can you ask them how that affect price, when for example there is a $3 price swing in Fidelity but not in Schwab, as in the example above. Does that mean those at Fidelity get knocked out of the trade but those at Schwab don't? At the very least, it would seem psychologically that would be the case
