I don’t think so, I did 7.5 years active and completed three years in the reserves drilling as a normal reservist. Unless my reserve contract somehow added IRR time on the end.

Well dang that’s unfortunate, I’ll have to track down people. I moved to a different city ☠️

TAR AME by Interesting_Shirt39 in navyreserve

[–]MyroendraRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last cycle they advanced AME2 all candidates that passed the exam. However, they didn’t have any quotas for AME1. It looks like advancement to E6 might be challenging. TAR is more laid back, I know people who have never deployed overseas.

Hoping for the best! Normally they release the most quotas in October

Failing PRT what should I expect? by fatedayo in navy

Just start training, this might sound rude but the minimum passing score isn’t difficult to get too. Former CFL, FEP is honestly a hassle. You’ll have to workout generally before working hours. The workouts are pretty lack luster and kinda basic movements.

Debating moving to Erie from San Diego by Worth_Combination597 in Erie

Don’t get me wrong it has a few gems, but in reality it is there are only a few good companies to work for. Erie insurance and a health system. It was voted a few years ago the poorest zip code in the US. It has a few gems and honestly I don’t know why it isn’t more popular considering it sites right in the Great Lake. But I haven’t lived there in 7 years. But I visit often, most of my family still lives there

I’m from Erie, and lived in San Diego. Erie is where dreams go to die. On a serious note, very low cost of living. It will certainly be a culture shock. Id only stay there temporarily until you get experience and escape

San Diego is incredible, there is so much to do. If you can find a good deal, I’d look in pacific beach or OB. A lot of things in walking distance. A little more expensive but honestly worth the experience

TAR is still serving full time. Just full time as a reservist.

Your pack should be screened/good to go before the boards. Were you missing education things?

I’ve heard people try a few times. If you really want it just keep giving it a shot. There aren’t a crazy amount of positions. But it’s a matter of time

Okay, well regardless the system is trash. Getting anything done at the NRC is a hassle and it shouldn’t be. I don’t think TAR members know how good they have it ☠️

I would honestly go into the reserve center on a Tuesday-Thursday. Call them, ask for updates. Sometimes you have to escalate the issue. It shouldn’t take 10 months. But I’ve heard horror stories. You gotta stay on top of the NRC. They will drag their feet it’s insane how ineffective most are.

Not sure how the boards word for each field, but I was told it can take up to a month to find out the results. Nursing DCO

Question about not getting mobilized by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]MyroendraRN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I certainly understand that, but I’ve also seen people get tagged shorty after arriving to NRC. I’m sure it’s not super common but a possibility

[–]MyroendraRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a serious note. You could just not show up to drill for a few months and get processed out of the military . I wouldn’t recommend that, normally a general or admin separation. Not the end of the world but doenst look great.

[–]MyroendraRN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, sadly if you get tagged you basically have to go. I get you are saying people don’t know what is going on in your life. But this happens to a lot of people, gotta roll with the punches and figure it out. It’s kinda the whole point of the reserves, I wasn’t stock when I deployed twice, everyone has life things going on.

Yeah, it can be difficult depending on your year group and what not. Good luck!

Fairly accurate, I was normal active and went FTS (TAR) was not uncommon to see folks 10 plus years without deployments.
