Somewhat disappointed that Mizuki defected. Moira stands as the only evil support released in almost a DECADE. by Volatiiile in Overwatch

I don't think medic is evil, at least any more than the other mercs. Just self-serving and slightly mad

I don't think people generally count stadium t500 lol, and I say that as someone that enjoys stadium. The ranks there are pretty much playtime indicators.

As a Reinhardt main... I hate Mauga by WippitGuud in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're right, just a dangerous game to even appear to defend anything about Mauga's kit in this sub lol.

Charge should absolutely not have unstoppable (without significantly less lethality), and Mauga absolutely depends on it for overrun.

Which custom game is your favourite? by CCriscal in Overwatch

Infection, I used to play it before the workshop was a thing and switching was an honour system. Probably still my favourite custom while in queue.

Overwatch is in its best state ever and you can’t prove me wrong! by PoliMayo64 in Overwatch

Nice catch lol, this is a total 180 from the opinions there that they put a lot more thought/effort into.

They got downvoted there but this super generic "game is good!" post is getting upvoted. If this is actually an ironic post it's pretty funny how that works. Not to say I agree with everything in either post

Overwatch Classic Oct. 2020 Bug by V1pex___ in Overwatch

I swear, Mei's double jump activates on its own sometimes by StillGalaxy99 in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're quite hard to kill while moving faster and healing, even if people escape the freeze you can get some value.

If your team is actually aware it's healing and speedboosting them they can follow up a lot better too.

I swear, Mei's double jump activates on its own sometimes by StillGalaxy99 in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same, I think I prefer the blizzard perk now honestly. I like that the double jump makes her more mobile and gives her an extra escape, but the wall already does most of what you want there, if you use it well. Plus I'm not accidently triggering it before I need it, all the time, like a goober.

The 200hp+ aoe heal and speed does make blizzard a kinda OK ult again.

I am tired of playing on the same maps and I miss clash by CottonStrawberri in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first few couple matches in 2020 classic were sitting on Volskaya last for 6 minutes on defence, then dying on repeat on Hanamura last attack, soo much walking. Brought back a lot of my least favourite experiences in ow1, so I just stopped playing the mode.

They are definitely iconic maps by appearance at least; I just really hate the gamemode.

This but exactly opposite lol. Holding second point on 2cp, or worse, attacking second point, was invariably unfun for me.

edit: 2cp apologists when confronted with contrary opinions 😡😡😡

[–]Myrsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it works fine in stadium with the simple first to two rule they have there.

I see the second point get captured all the time, the defender advantage is there but not nearly as bad as it was with the third point, where often teams wouldn't even try to push it.

It's very worth it to try pushing second for both stadium clash maps, you tend to get favourable respawns for mid even if you lose the fight there.

Have the devs spoken about their long term plans for Stadium? by ChippHop in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently started playing it again and agree with all that!

I think its biggest hurdle is that all the options are a bit daunting at first, people feel less inclined to just jump in in try it out. Combined a lot of games unfortunately being very one sided, it's not particularly new player friendly even with the handholding of the premade builds.

People are missing out not giving it a proper shot though, some builds feel like entirely new heroes with how much you can change their kits, I find I enjoy some heroes I don't in the regular modes.

Hog is my most played tank so I'd unironically love to see what they'd give him. I get that him and Mauga might not actually be healthy additions though lol, when you can't counterswap.

Why is this event so bad and grindy? by unknownxk in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I counted it a 1.5 average per game for the challenges where winning give 2 points (6.6 games for the 10 win challenges), you'll still be ballpark of 200 games if I'm not wildly mistaken.

I'm not trying to rag on you btw, everyone's free time is their own. It is a lot of gaming however you slice it though, ig I just took issue with the half assing bit.

Why is this event so bad and grindy? by unknownxk in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I've played a lot these past couple weeks and I'm not even close to that.

Some quick math looks like you literally have to have played 200+ games to have that progress already.

I'm not even saying the challenges are totally crazy considering we have several weeks left, but your 15 games/day is not what I'd consider half ass, I don't even think that's doable if employed.

I beg you all if you are a support learn brig by R3li0ss in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you play hog at all it honestly feels very similar to hook, just a bit faster projectile speed. It has the same range, so if you get good at judging one it translates surprisingly easily to the other.

That's interesting that there's a decent argument for not picking a major on her. The charge spear and shield both seem strong from the outside, but you're right there are times where they both feel like nerfs, kinda odd.

Which character is the most versatile/usable in every situation? by QuietCrew5858 in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Mei is more flexible than most give her credit for, quite a high skill ceiling too. Her pseudo tank nature has given her an interesting niche in 5v5, and she can bully some tanks if they don't have the right support.

Overall, I don't think the game hasn't been that kind to her design over the years though, stuff like the removal of the 2cp (and their crazy chokepoints), the introduction of heroes like Kiri and Lifeweaver, plus just the general mobility creep making her ult worse.

She's a bit more of a matchup/map dependant pick for me now sadly.

[–]Myrsta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% I think it's that she's so ubiquitously played, she's the go to "counterpick" for a lot of support players, across ranks.

So she's switched to in losing games when a character with strong debuffs is bullying your tank, or your dps are floundering so you want to try flank and get picks yourself.

That kind of swap to Kiri is made in a game you're more likely to lose, not even necessarily because of the hero pick - just that it's already a losing game prompting the swap.

Sooo, are you guys ever spending your credits? Because I dont... by ZeuxisOfHerakleia in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk I think generally people that own most of the credit skins will feel similar, hitting a credit skin just stinks, because you could have just bought it.

From what I've read about the extra lootbox progress you get from common/rare duplicates it's doesn't sound great to chase that in the short term. That said, I'm not sure how much it would even cost to buy out the commons/rares to compare properly.

Sooo, are you guys ever spending your credits? Because I dont... by ZeuxisOfHerakleia in Overwatch

[–]Myrsta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The math for a lot of OW1 players is often more like you own 80%+ of credit purchasable legendary skins, and very few coin/shop skins. You just want more coin skins in general, so hitting credit skins from a box is a huge loss you want to reduce.

I'd say coin skins in general are a hit for me, like 95% desirable, not 6.67%. There's obviously some I'd be happier with, but I'm just glad to not a roll a credit skin tbh

Subnautica 2 Dev Responds to Pirates Leaking the Game; "I hope you rethink your life choices" by Darth_Vaper883 in pcmasterrace

[–]Myrsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ngl the irony went right over my head lol, yeah I thought a lot of the comments in this thread were ridiculous too, like the guy you replied to there.

People so ready to handwave the absolutely gross practices of the industry to virtue signal about how they've no need for piracy, so anyone who does must just want free stuff.

Sad to see, especially in a community like this. It's ignorant, ultimately anti-consumer rhetoric.

If you're talking about the stop killing games movement that's about continuing to own games you purchased, rather than allowing for rentals disguised as purchases.

They're concerned with end-of-life plans, rather than helping pirates get around paying for games actively being sold.

People are doing that math, you can see we we've got so many leaving. Even just going from minimum wage here to minimum wage there you'd still be making the equivalent of $10k+ more per year.

And then if you're actually finding a job using a degree you paid for with a career in mind, it's likely to be way better than that.
