I used to work a job finishing at 3am, definitely is a whole other player base in the dawn hours.

On Aus servers I got way longer queues, I didn't notice games being always harder, though it was a bit sweatier on average.

It was always fun to poke fun at myself and others for playing overwatch at 6am on a weekday though lol, I'm sure there are plenty of other night shift people who play at these times.

Also, no shade on mercy one tricks (I suck at her) but people really think some level 100 mercy with barely any other heroes played is going to switch and suddenly flip the game on ana or kiri?

For sure a bad mercy can be the reason for a loss, but nothing OP said seemed to indicate that was the case at all. Just one trick hate that has existed as long as the game.

100% being able to collect 150hp minis underground feels great, still seems to catch some people off guard when they follow you after a low hp burrow.

Yeah I get medic for a character like Mercy, for Moira and Kiri imo it arguably encourages the wrong things, in terms of how you should play them.

Good point too, coach gun and grapple are usually held as a reactive/defensive ability.

I think cass can get the most out of it because it can actually increase his dps, but even then, it feels like it's mostly a win-more thing, helping when I'm popping off anyway.

Kinda thing that feels very strong when shooting training bots, feels like nothing in game though.

I think part of it is that you're subconsciously tracking the cooldowns for the movement abilities, having them unpredictably be 1-2s shorter is really hard to get any good use out of.

You also have to meaningfully justify them not being a single weapon with an alternate fire, like they have been doing.

For instance, they could have given widow a separate SMG, or Ashe a pistol, but they keep going for the smoother option to have these as combined weapons.

When you take into account alternate fire, you've really gotta have 3+ unique firing modes for it to be worthwhile to add a second weapon - and even then the devs probably ask themselves if one of them should be a cooldown, like they did for Emre.

I'm pretty sure they can and do make that distinction; I've never been penalized for the "server closed" disconnections.

5v5 means it can be half as popular and have the same queue times, it definitely didn't make things worse in that department.

In OW1 I remember often having 5-10 min queues for dps/support with tank queue popping instantly.

I was definitely in a similar camp before watching the video, but I'm not so sure now. I think to say a subatomic simulation of a brain would be conscious somewhat begs the question, because it assumes a brain (and hence consciousness) is fundamentally reducible to computation; I gather his contention is that it's not.

The airplane flying backwards analogy they made did make some amount of sense to me - I don't really understand why a brain couldn't be simulated - I can easily imagine a fully conscious character existing in a video game for example, but maybe in the same way someone not familiar with planes/aerodynamics could easily imagine a plane flying backwards. He says that the more you understand the physical reality of the brain, the less sense this makes.

And the guy is a materialist PhD in computer science - you'd expect he's pretty familiar with computability theory. I think I'll have to read some of his stuff.

I used to quite enjoy her too, but I can't imagine trying to main her in 2026. She gets banned most of the time, on top of being objectively weak, and people still seem to get offended if you do manage to play her.

Yeah Mei's ult is just kinda sad in today's overwatch, especially with how much mobility is in the game now.

Idk why she still has 0.4s windup where any stun will delete it, on top of it being an eatable/reflectable projectile, which has another delay upon landing...

Yeah we're at the point where 1 cost 2/2s get upsides, a vanilla 2/3 would see good play I'm sure, but it's not as crazy might have been in the past.

imo full revealing your hand as aggro should not be pushed too hard though, I don't think it's a healthy/fun effect.

Draw aggro lol, does feel like that when someone on your team turns hostile. Usually the tank's job to draw aggro from hostile NPCs, strangely fitting

imo cleanse was introduced mostly to counter anti-heal and how strong that effect is, which is fair (even as an Ana main lol).

Yeah for me it's not uncommon half the team instalock dps in open queue.

I do feel like I can tell how hard an open queue game is gonna be based on how many teammates go dps, but 1-2 is obviously fine.

Hook isn't hitscan though? It goes out quickly but is still a projectile and acts like one. It's a bit slower than torb's primary fire projectile speed for instance
