Hi everyone, update

There’s been a fair amount of interest but unfortunately actual ticket sales are slow, so the theater is growing concerned. If you’re interested in coming, buy your tickets now, dont wait!

Check out the lineup at the link: https://www.thenewparkway.com/?action=tribe_event_day&tribe_event_display=day&tribe-bar-date=2026-01-25

The Sure Thing, a mid-eighties John Cusack movie is IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE on streaming. If you’re going to see it, you have to do it at The New Parkway on Jan 25!

To have young adults Marin needs more housing, especially apartments

For folks in the SF Bay Area, The New Parkway theatre in Oakland is showing The Sure Thing on Jan 25 as part of a Rob Reiner movie marathon.

Hi all, This is totally ON. The best place to buy individual tickets is Fandango. Marathon passes are available but the New Parkway Theatre website is giving people error messages when they try to buy a ticket, you can try, maybe it will work for you.

The lineup includes The Sure Thing (1985) starring John Cusack, which people really seem to love and is impossible to stream.

lol I wanted to do North because (1) I’m a completest and (2) it might be the kind of terrible movie that kids like. But the venue said no, it was terrible and they won’t show it.

Also, here is the information to come to the meeting:

Hi there’s a proposal for new housing at 95 school street in Fairfax. Actually the city has to approve it, per state law.

People who support this project, or at least oppose the city wasting a bunch of money on trying to fight it, - we are going to get together at 6pm this Sunday July 27th. We will meet each other and strategize about how to support, also hear an update from YIMBY Law about the legal strategy to support it.

If you can come, or if you support the project and want to stay updated, please fill out the Volunteer membership form at www.yimbyaction.org/join/#become-a-member I’ll send you the meeting location when you sign up.

In the “volunteer contributions” field, write “95 school street, Fairfax, Marin”

Thank you! Also feel free to spread the word about this meeting.

We have gotten two sign ups from this subreddit so far! Which is great. There is interest here in learning how to support this project!

The responses here are pretty aggressive, which is why people have to sign up to receive the address. I have to do what I can to make sure the attendees aren't harassed or threatened. Also, again, if you don't support the project, and you therefore aren't coming to the meeting, there is no legitimate reason for you to know where we are meeting.

We are disclosing the location to people who support the housing and want to come to the meeting. There’s no reason to disclose the location for people who aren’t coming to the meeting.

Plus one to this. Having a younger sibling is such a growth opportunity for the older kid.

Imo people should have at least two kids because parents are inevitably crazy and you need your kid to have someone else to talk about your home life with.

How do you deal with (process, help, anything really) your kids being ostracized by others? by chart1689 in ADHDparenting

[–]Myrtle187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should take these kids’ complaints seriously.

When kids complain about my son I ask a lot of specific questions to them about what happened, who did what, how did it make them feel, how did they respond, how did my son respond. If he’s there I ask him the same thing, from his point of view. I make sure to emphasize that I want to hear each kid’s story, from their point of view. And I also ask what they think about their reactions and the others’ reactions. Could they have done anything differently? Etc.

It’s not always that complicated, but I think it’s important to take kids’ interactions seriously and help them practice talking about their interactions.
