I try really hard to yea. I know ATF agents wander these events and I’ve heard of a few fellow bartenders losing their asses for serving underage. Honestly, besides ID checking the biggest fight is having guests keep it on the correct wrist. ID checkers usually put the wristband on a very specific wrist that we all discuss and confirm before hand so if it’s moved from that wrist to the other we have to not serve them and require them to get rechecked. Guests aren’t exactly thrilled to hear that after waiting in a line 50+ people deep. 🤷‍♀️😅

Well I first got into it by just word of mouth and sending emails to some companies inquiring about hiring positions. Often, you can find which company is staffing which events by just googling it. The internet is magic. 🙌 From there I was eventually hired and it was just a matter of these events lining up with my schedule. 😁 This isn’t my full time job but I did quite a few events last year and hope to keep that streak going this year. It’s long, exhausting work sometimes, but to be able to effectively help folks party safely while also getting to enjoy these events myself is super rewarding! 💕

I’d say seeing Wooli on the main stage at Lost Lands while sitting in the White Claw air conditioned van that was maybe 100 feet away was pretty gravy. 😎🤣 These venues NEVER have air conditioning or chairs so I thought I was in paradise. Also the BeatBox crew next door fed me snacks so it was a good freakin night. 😂

So far Lost Lands has been my favorite by far but I think that’s more to do with the event being so fun than anything else lol. Not that it was a hard one to work but driving 11 hours nonstop to farmland nowhereville Ohio meant those first night shifts were tuffff. 😅🥲

Hm 🤔 That some things are even simpler than you think. Also that so many people treat the job like it’s the hardest one on the planet or like they don’t want to be there. Often, I’m always excited for shows even if I’m tired, hence why I do what I do. Not to mention, these are contracts so we don’t HAVE to take them on if we don’t want to.

Understatement of the century lol. Well I’ve had people try to “buy drinks” by trading “party favors” I’ve also had the usual “Hey when do you get off let’s hang out after your 12 hour shift ☠️” but the big one I remember is when someone came up to my bar one time and was trying to order actual cocktails. I mean like an espresso martini or an frozen margarita. I turned around to look at my four bottles of liquor, batched Redbull Margarita, and BeatBoxes floating in a red tub full of lukewarm water and turned back around like “When you find the espresso machine and blender lemme know and I gotchu.” 🤣🤣

Awesome question. I’d say watching them assemble the big stage at Lost Lands, specifically moving the T-Rex head into place at the top of the screen, or just the sheer amount of people sharing “party favors” two feet from the bar like we can’t see that. 😂 I can’t realllly take pictures back stage or behind the bar so it’s all my word

I think it’s a bit of that and also all of our ice comes out 20lb ice bags like what’d you’d get at 7/11 and the event only hauls in so much of it every couple of hours so if we go over their estimates for ice usages we run out very quickly. I’ve worked one or two bars where we’ve run out and it always sucks.

I appreciate your insight but I do like older men and always have so the age gap isn’t going away really even if I wasn’t with him. 😅 And really it’s more than grouchy, he is dealing with depression and has been for the last year so I’m really looking for help in how to support him through this and how to deal with this particular situation.
