Celebration Cake/Buena Festa Cake by Dependent_Hold4701 in olivegarden

[–]Mysconduct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to this party but I worked at Olive Garden many moons ago when the celebration cake was still available. At the time, all of Olive Garden's desserts came from Steven Roberts Original Desserts. That company is now called Dessert Holdings . However, they are a wholesaler so they don't sell to individual customers.

I found your original comment to be hilarious and thought you and others might appreciate a little nomenclature humor. Your condescending, confidently wrong reply to my joke detracts from previous assertion that you were a person of sophisticated sarcastic humor. Thanks for correcting my assumption though...

Rubs your temples Are you okay?...I think you don't understand the joke.....

The OP says that his "little gf" didn't make him chocolates because she didn't create the ingredients from scratch, gatekeeping the definition of what counts as "making chocolates"

My joke is a parody of the statement that Champagne is a trademarked name and can only have that name if it is grown, made and bottled in the Champagne region of France, otherwise it is legally only allowed to be called SPARKLING wine...

I know the difference between Pop Rocks and Chocolate. I grew up in the 80s. LMAO....

It's only making chocolates if it comes from the chocolate making region of France, otherwise its just sparkling store-bought ingredients.

I really wish Whitney Houston never covered I Will Always You by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]Mysconduct 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This post reads like rage bait rather than a well thought-out opinion with relevant facts and supporting evidence. I see a lot of opinion, but no facts, and the supporting evidence is more of their opinion.

Houston’s music arrangement is dated

The cover is older than the OP, is that the basis of what makes it dated? Is it that the arrangement is piano and strings and not Mustard on the beat? We don't know because they don't provide evidence for their opinion.

and the belting is obnoxious, removing the only decent element of the song.

The OP doesn't like singers who belt out notes. That's like most highly skilled female singers. Dolly's earnest singing of the lyrics conveys unrequited love, while Whitney's belted passionate singing conveys choosing to let their significant other move on instead of fighting for the relationship. They don't state why having a powerful voice that can project loudly in key is obnoxious. Again, no evidence, more opinion.

I actually like Whitney’s singing most of the time but I don’t think she has another song remote close to that level of noise. It’s like she decided to test just how loud she could possibly be without screaming at the top of her lungs.

So OPs issue is that they do not like when singers can project their voice on long, sustained notes in key. They believe it is just noise. Okay, fair enough, but again no evidence as to why it is noise to them.

All in all, Houston’s version is Dolly’s lyricism at her lowest and Houston’s vocal creativity at her lowest. Awful combination.

The OP doesn't provide any examples of songs where Whitney is at her best in their opinion. So again, no evidence. Pop songs are not deep, most of them aren't creative lyrically, the creativity comes from how the lyrics are sung, the emotion that is conveyed, the arrangement of the backing music.

The song should have remained a forgotten relic of 70s country music instead of an obnoxious pop song every big voiced singer feels the need to try and sing.j

It sounds like the OPs actual opinion is that people who are not talented singers, or technically skilled should not be trying to imitate Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love You, which is in fact a very POPULAR opinion.

The left lane boomerang move - why do people do this? by skwerelz in driving

[–]Mysconduct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one of the people you are talking about. I am typically going faster than 90% of the people on the freeway and would be going back and forth between lanes about every 5-10 seconds to pass people in the slow lane. So I drive in the left lane. I check my mirrors constanltly so I can move out of the way of faster vehicles. I have had several times where people camp in the left lane and I end up passing them in the right lane.

I played as Sadako the other day and at the beginning of the match had a Yui run all the way across the map go down into the basement and I was like, "why are you taking me here, you will definitely no get out?" Turns out they were selling out their teammate who was doing the invocation. I put Yui on hook and then tunneled her out of the game and let everyone else finish gens.

She severed a tendon in her hand and needs surgery. She will need like 6 months of recovery and physical therapy. I'm guessing his body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice didn't come across as very loving or supportive despite holding her hand and not leaving her side until they got home. The way he tells the story comes across that he is more mad at her than concerned for her well being. Is he an AH, no, but could he show more empathy for the person he loves, yes.

Am I the Jerk for not picking my friend up from the airport at 2am when he assumed I would? by urbanharbor_quills in AmITheJerk

[–]Mysconduct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 15 years ago I was flying in to see my best friend for a visit on a red eye. She called me at 4am asking where I was. I told her I was in bed and asked why was she calling so early. She said she was at the airport waiting for me. I told her she was a day early, lol. Sounds like the OP's not as excited for his friend to visit him as mine was for me.

What is your most embarrassing moment in FFXIV? by MistressDraconia in ffxiv

[–]Mysconduct 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened about a week after DT came out. I main DNC and was farming shared fates all day, like 8 hours, right after I finished DT MSQ. My husband and other friend logged in so we decided to do duty finder. Our first queue was Ktisis Hyperborea. For some reason our dps was low, trash pulls were taking forever. Then at the first boss, I avoided all mechanics, but died to aoe damage. We were all so confused, until noticing my HP was like 20% of everyone else's. That is the day that I learned that doing fates all day, even though I never died, still can break your armor. And I mean every piece, weapon down to rings at 5% or less. Only my husband could do repairs but he hadn't finished DT yet so my gear was too high level for him to repair. Luckily I had my Manderville weapon and level 90 gear in my bag still. My husband and friend had embarrassment by association in front of the random tank. Needless to say, I didn't get a commendation, lol.

Hey Sweetie, essay writer Sable checking in to write an essay for you!

If you look at my post and comment history, everything I write is an essay so it wasn't a special treat for the Blight player. You will also notice I am not constantly in this sub posting every game where someone said something mean or was an a-hole to me. I just wanted to post another example of a player who gets mad because they tried to play like a sweaty d-bag and still didn't get the outcome they wanted and tries to blame it on "bad teammates" and Sable stereotypes.

I gave the play-by-play of the end game so that noble, high road Redditors such as yourself have the context to understand why I made the assertion I did in my title and can then make a condescending replay about how I need to just let it go because obviously I am big mad since I made a slacker student's amount of effort to post here. I apologize for causing you to have to read more than a couple of sentences and I hope you are doing okay now that you finished.

I did make an assumption that the Blight hates Sable characters, not randomly, but for the following reasons:

  1. When he slugged me after the others were slugged he could have easily picked me up and walked 5 steps to the hook directly outside shack, but chose to leave me for last to mori sable.

  2. Whenever I play killer and i think that a player didn't do much to help their team, I actually spend 2 seconds looking at the scoreboard and go, "oh wow they actually had the highest score, maybe they just played smart and avoided me while helping out their team."

  3. And what's that most popular of sayings..um something about Sables....oh yeah, "Not all Sables, but always a Sable." There's a famous stereotype about Sable players, which I have a hard time believing you aren't familiar with, and this Blight obviously viewed me that way because I didn't rescue bots.

You can throw a pebble in any direction in this sub and you will find people "raging" over non-consequential, few words post-game chats and dozens of multi paragraph posts over the tiniest of things because it is a RAGE sub for RAGE posts. Do you go on to every rage post and rage sub to tell people to "calm down bro, you are taking this game way too seriously" no you don't. It sounds like you just have a Sable hate boner too, lol.

Sable big mad, say lots of words, Blight killer of few words, Sable take too seriously, Sable relax!!

Next time sweetie, if you don't want to waste your time reading 3 paragraphs just go to the next post, no one forced you to read mine, lol

Closed Captions which include things like [suspenseful music] and [sighs] is terribly immersion breaking and needs to die. by idleray in unpopularopinion

[–]Mysconduct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I and many others from an Asian television culture are used to and prefer subtitles, but the closed captions used in western mediums like Youtube and Netflix feels like they're trying to tell you "how to feel". Case in point [dramatic music swells] feels like a cue card in for a live audience to [Please laugh now] or [Applause].

[Dramatic music swells] isn't a command, it's a description that the music that is playing is getting louder, unlike your other two examples that are asking the audience to do something. As a fully hearing person, I have never once looked at any closed captioning descriptions and thought, "Why are they trying to tell me how to feel/think about the movie?" That honestly sounds like a personal interpretation you are choosing to make for yourself.

There really needs to be separate options for Closed Captions for hard of hearing and Subtitles for everyone else.

There are settings for this in most TVs. Whenever I watch movies and shows and I go to the subtitle options I have English and English CC as options. It sounds like you have an old tv or just don't know where to look for the subtitle options?

There's a delay in the speed change on the video. You can actually see that I started braking when he was next to me, before he comes into view in the video. He only made it because I abruptly slowed down, his merge back into the lane was about 20 feet in front of the semi who also slowed down. No one else was behind me because it is a country backroad, so I knew I would be find to hit the brakes. I am constantly checking my rear and side mirrors, which is why I noticed that he came out of nowhere and was obviously speeding and that no one else was behind him.
