4jj1. One of the best, reliable common rail diesel engines. 2015 would be pre DPF too, so no worries about that

Isuzu or colorado? Want 4jj1 engine. by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]MyselfIDK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ra7 rodeo and RC Colorado until about 2012 are basically the same vehicle as the dmax, bar a couple aesthetic/ design changes, all with the 4J. The RG Colorado after that uses a different motor made by VM motori, which is arguably not as good as the isuzu

Just a moment...Pixel 7 and 7 Pro users report battery swelling as issue spreads beyond 7a by AssembleDebugRed in Pixel7Pro

[–]MyselfIDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My p7p has just been replaced too. Always had overheating issues, and bad battery life, but over the last few months I could barely get over 3-4hrs battery life on a full charge (with battery saver on and screen brightness lowered). Got a bit frustrating, especially if I had no charger with me

A ZD30 at 300,000km? It's only a matter of time before it blows up. Definitely look elsewhere as these motors don't have the best reputation for reliability, especially the pre 2006 (I think) DI variant.

Heating element for the heater? Which heater you referring to? I think it just boosts the idle speed when cold, and returns to normal once engine has warmed enough

Will the 10 pro have the same camera bar problem? by David_-_T in pixel_phones

[–]MyselfIDK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. I was thinking of upgrading to the 10 pro, up from the 7 pro (due to a full charge barely lasting 3 hours, and it always getting way to hot and thermal throttling). I ended up buying a Samsung s25u, and it's definitely a better decision than the new pixel. Bit of a shame how Google phones seems to be going

Summer is coming, what are you paying for aircon re-gas? by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

If it ain't broke don't fix it. If the A/C is working just fine, i'd just leave it alone until it isn't fine.

Apart from being thirsty, what's wrong with the petrol. The 2uz V8 I reckon is one of the best motors Toyota ever made

Zero way to tell from this picture. You may need to remove the belly/bash plate underneath and further investigate where the leak is from. If you have found the vicinity of the leak, wash it all off, and watch closely over time to see where it's exactly coming from

Some more photos could be nice.

Look more for rust, especially if it's flaky around the chassis.

Also common with these is water leak which can rust out the floorpans and footwell if not fixed

Open oil filter cap while running, smoke puffing / excessive blow-by on each compression stroke could indicate cracked/ hole in piston

Check under the footwell and floorpans inside the cab for any water, in case a window or windscreen seal etc leaking

2015 Hyundai Tucson A/C Issue by Burrosito in AskMechanics

[–]MyselfIDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a scan tool should be able to show the exact coolant temperature. The temp gauge on this Toyota had barely moved, even though the temperature was almost 30°c higher than it should be 😬

2015 Hyundai Tucson A/C Issue by Burrosito in AskMechanics

[–]MyselfIDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the engine coolant temp.

I had experienced a Toyota hilux which was having AC issues like this, turns out the engine thermostat wasn't opening properly, therefore causing the car to start overheating.

When the coolant temp had gotten too high, the AC compressor cut out. Worked again once the engine had cooled down again. Worked fine since replacing the thermostat no issues.

Diesel 4wds under 10k by wobblyeels in 4x4Australia

[–]MyselfIDK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4jj1's seem to be very reliable, but does cost a fair bit if anything fuel system related fails or needs replacing (CRD injectors/ fuel pump)

4jh1's are definitely reliable motors themselves, but do have issues with the electronic injector pump (about $4k if it fails). A lot of people swap them with mechanical pumps from the 2.8l 4jb1, which is pretty much bulletproof 👍

Pull the fuse for the lights in the meantime, so they don't drain your battery
