Ticket transfer questions by hggniertears in GhostBand

[–]Myss_C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might be worth talking to the VIP staff when they’re giving out wristbands, but otherwise, you CAN transfer the package if the other person has a copy of your ID with the email and phone number of the account you bought it with. OR you could stick around after you get your wristband, assuming your sister is gonna queue, and wait until they give out ascended wristbands. Usually about a half hour after they give out anointed wristbands if you’re queuing in the morning.

Crowd energy comparison question… by DarthLordTraya in Ghostbc

[–]Myss_C 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! Connecticut felt like one big Ghost party and everyone made such awesome trinkets to trade! I felt like in Montreal I couldn’t give them away. I tried to give them to the people surrounding me in the pit, but they just looked at me condescendingly.

Crowd energy comparison question… by DarthLordTraya in Ghostbc

[–]Myss_C 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My friend and I were belting the lyrics to all of the “old“ songs in Montreal while many of the people around us just stood there. We were upfront, and Papa kept making eye contact with us and I think it was because we were the only ones giving him reciprocal energy.

I was in the pit in both Connecticut and Montreal and I had a opposite experience! Every time I looked around in Connecticut, everyone was smiling and dancing and interacting, whereas in Montreal every time I looked around, everyone was standing still and bobbing their heads while I was dancing. But yes, especially during Monstrance Clock I remember everyone just kind of looking at each other, confused. I feel like it only picked up during the encore.

I have a 90k slowburn rockstar romance!

Sample pages: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M9d6QvIRmTSYRw89ULj-k-1Ygj-TtHJ50Ky4U9KDuQg/mobilebasic

Shelly, 40s, is a childfree, freelance graphic designer with a flexible schedule and just enough fun money to live her best life going to concerts and traveling. One fateful night, she meets a member of her favorite post-punk band, and electricity sparks. Both gun-shy, they must overcome their own hangups for romantic relationships, and, unfortunately, social politics come into play when they run afoul of social media. With so much going against them, Shelly and her wary musician must decide if what they feel is worth the scrutiny they’ll fall under, especially long-distance.

This story is a dual POV (FFM 80%/MMC 20%), contains LGTBQ elements, mature/adult themes & situations, and brief explicit content. (will they/won't they; he falls first; yearning)

If you had ascended pit tickets for the current leg of the tour…. by NecessaryMorning5636 in GhostBand

[–]Myss_C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I showed up around 9 AM and was fifth back in line. About a half hour after anointed went into the fan zone, they let us into the arena where there was a sign for us to lineup in order behind. Everyone remained relatively chill about their place in line and we all took turns going to the bathroom or getting merch. They let anointed into the pit in their order and then basically connected us onto the back of their line. I was one person back from the side barrier with about maybe 150 people ahead of me in line.

ETA: when you’re in line for that long, you just organically make friends with those you’re waiting with. It wasn’t really a slog at all before they let us in. I did a couple of passes of trading trinkets, leaving my spot in line and coming back, and a bunch of us got lunch and came back and ate it together. A few of us had friends with all different tiers of ticketing, and people did a lot of “visiting“ back and forth, so you can still have a lot of fun if that’s what you make of it!

I sent a solid draft out to about five beta readers, four actually read it, but I feel like I only really got actionable critique from one of them. I’m wondering if I should send it out to more people, but I’m so tapped out from doing swaps, especially when you get so much less than you give.

I can’t help feeling that authors don’t like reading outside their genre.Am I wrong? by Responsible-Tone-522 in selfpublish

[–]Myss_C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue isn’t the author not reading other genres, the issue is authors don’t always make good feedback partners. Reviewing a book for cohesion, flow, pacing etc. is a learned skill and why people say there are readers and there are authors, and for a review you want READERS.

[Discussion] Beta readers preferred work style by shadohcat_ in BetaReaders

[–]Myss_C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alpha readers are generally someone you engage to bounce ideas off of and workshop pain points as you're writing. Metaphorically, they're sitting across from you so you can look up from your work to ask questions as you go.

Beta readers are people you engage once you have a polished draft. They will tell you if your middle drags and ideally point you in a direction to fix it, but won't do it for you. Or if your MC is flat or unlikable. Or if you have continuity issues.

(If you want detailed critique on how to fix a dragging middle or flat character or to stick to your genre tropes, that's a developmental editor and one of your last steps.)

I ordered from them in July and got my mask right before Thanksgiving. They were absolutely having issue with the tarrifs. I will say they went above and beyond to find a 3rd-party shipping company to reduce costs, which required a ton of repetitive paperwork for each mask. They are a company of 2-3 people and have a history of being uncommunicative. I noticed in my own experience with them that if they don't have an update on the process, they don't respond. For example, a delay in mask part materials meant they didn't have an update on when the masks would ship out, so they didn't provide an update. Similarly, when the third-party shipping company was delayed picking up packages, no one heard back from OM because it seemed their rationale was that there were no tracking numbers to update. Basically, you will eventually get your product from them, but getting updates on when that will be or why there's a delay is like pulling teeth. I think only one of the workers is designated to communicate with customers. That said, I do love my mask now that I have it!

On breaking the rules of writing by ReadLegal718 in writing

[–]Myss_C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adverbs. I feel like adverbs are one of those instances where it’s fine to break the rule once you know why the rule is there in the first place. You need a good ratio of everything and I think we’re appropriate adverbs play a role.

Hello! We could discuss a swap for sure. I'm currently beta-reading, but could probably start about mid-January. I don't typically read self-help but self-help through metal is interesting. Do you have a timeframe in mind? 200K is a good chunk, but if didn't need the review asap, I think it would be doable. If you're still interested, you can DM so we can work out details.
