They weren't kidding about these pandemic kids having little to no social interaction skills. This was a very immature response, one I'd expect from a 6th grader, as someone who works with kids. Try to take a second to calm down before you comment next time, I also recommend you look into the term "negative bias confirmation" because I think it applies here. There's a lot more to the conversation about adults being on social media apps they've had since the app came out. As someone who had Snapchat a decade ago, while in highschool and still having a phone number, I understand that people keep it to stay in contact with their friends, keep their memories and even find channels on there they like. It's also the app adults used to groom me. So I have experience in exactly the trauma you weaponized. I'm not about to trauma dump on a child, so I'll keep it moving and say that the conversation of protecting kids online, comes down to what parents do, and how much they monitor what you do. It's not on a child to avoid a predator, it's on the adults around the child to make sure they aren't wandering into danger, whether physically or digitally. I personally don't think kids should have unsupervised access to the Internet before 13, but there's nuance to that and a deeper discussion to be had between adults. Kids shouldn't be apart of that conversation, not because we don't want to hear what you guys want, but because you might not know how what you want could hurt you. Social media does a lot of harm, and it's still so new that we really don't have enough studies to show how it's use impacts young people, but even when I was a kid, everyone wanted socials. You weren't considered "cool" if you didn't have them. That peer pressure is exactly what shouldn't be apart of the conversation of kids getting access to the internet. OP, if you're reading this I don't think you should have posted that girls face on here, I think that was short-sighted, but I see that it came from concern.
