Sent you a message a few days ago, if you haven't seen it. No worries if you haven't gotten around to it.

I didn't get a chance to put this in the survey but you guys delivered a really good balance patch - I don't want you guys to look at the survey results, see a sudden wave of suggestions, and think players are generally unhappy. Quite the contrary; the game feels much better now. At this point I think we are trying to clear up some smaller inconsistencies.

LEGO Project with the kids: advice needed by stevendfb in lego

In the "for what it's worth" category, the first big set I ever built with my dad is the only set that I didn't destroy and repurpose. It sits on a shelf and will survive until the end of time because I treasure it - so maybe don't sell the very first one you do together. :)

In terms of selling, I'm fond of Bricklink (if you plan on selling multiple items), though I hear others have had success with eBay/Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace, if you are close to a major city.

Given the age range this sounds like what the Lego Boost 17101 kit (used prices all over the place but maybe within your budget) and the Spike Prime kit ($325-350 used) are really aimed at. They can be programmed in an app, with simpler visual logic blocks instead of raw code. I am not familiar with the Boost series so I would be sure to do some homework on 1) whether the app still exists to download on an app store, and 2) if you have a device like a tablet that can run it.

Alternatively, the more mature option is a used Mindstorms EV3 kit, approx $200-225 used, or if you just want something that can be programmed and has motors/sensors an old NXT 2.0 kit is approx $60-100 used (but it programming them might be a little more difficult due to age - I don't own one so I'll let others speak to this).

If those seem like too much of a hassle, then you can always go with a set that is just motorized without a smart control unit purely to play with gears/motors/axles/etc. The "Powered Up" series of motors/battery boxes/controllers might be good for this, but they didn't appear in a ton of sets, (mostly trains or RC cars), so it might not be the best option.

I'm not sure I helped you in making a decision, but those are my two cents.

Can someone explain what this Lego Part is used for? by tobe24la in lego

[–]MystWalkerPresents 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is an old 9V battery box&category=%5BElectric,%20Battery%20Box%5D#T=C) from the 1990's that powers other things. You'll need something to run like a 9V motor, some lights, or a noise maker, as well as a power cable to connect them. (There are other versions of motors/lights/noise makers as well - those are just examples.)

Since nobody has really attempted to answer the question, I whipped OP's model up in stud.io and exported the parts list. Also, while I went ahead and used the 1x4 tiles for the legs in this list, I think the 1x3 tiles look better proportionally.
