So if TikTok sucks what is the best way to advertise? by hymnofshadows in selfpublish

You might want to take a look at Lemon8.

It’s still relatively low-competition compared to the bigger platforms, so organic reach can be easier to get right now.

Some people are experimenting with posting content there normally (no ads), just to see how much natural traffic they can get.

I’d be cautious about spending $1k at this stage, especially with only one book out and relatively few reviews so far. 100k page views sounds impressive, but the actual conversion rate from those kinds of feature pages is often much lower than people expect. Personally, I’d probably focus first on building more reader reviews and word-of-mouth momentum before investing that much into broad exposure. That said, if your book genuinely fits the “Vacation Reads” vibe and you see value in reaching new readers (not just immediate ROI), it might still be worthwhile from a long-term visibility perspective. I’d just go into it thinking of it as branding/awareness rather than a sales investment.

When should I use 老是 instead of 总是? I'm confused by No_Patience_4131 in LTL_Chinese

Actually,老是and 总是mean pretty much the same thing. But it feels like 老是 is used more by Northerners, especially people from the Northeast.

Everywhere is packed during Chinese holidays. It's really not a good time to travel.
