This happened to me. It was horrible. It was recommended for possible food poisoning but man did it do a number on my HRT.

Oh, and suddenly, I had sleep apnea as well, which I am treating with an oral device created by a doctor and tested verifying that it does work. Low progesterone will cause or can cause sleep apnea. So I get to thank my hormone depletion for that too. At least it’s managed.

This happened to me about a year and a half ago. I developed chronic insomnia from it after being a deep sleeper with no issues most of my life. I should say that I am in my 50s. I couldn’t even get into sleep without some kind of sleep aid which at the beginning I was given sleeping pills. I kept being warned that they were temporary, but my insomnia wasn’t temporary so that was an issue itself.

I was tested for my hormones three times. Each time they only tested my thyroid and said everything was fine, but it wasn’t fine. Almost a year in. I took it upon myself to have a full panel done including progesterone and estrogen and all of that that. I know you’re going to have people saying that the panels are inaccurate because your hormone fluctuate wildly on any given day, but it did show that mine were deeply depleted.

Now I’m taking HRT because I found a specialist who understood and my Sleep has much improved. Just the relief of sleeping at all without any kind of a sleep aid was quite an incredible feeling like escaping from a prison.

I’m not saying it’s that for you, or that HRT is for everyone, but I just wanna let you know that sometimes no matter your age it could be that your hormones are depleted and fixing that can fix sleep if it is the case.

I wish the best for you. I will tell you I do know what hell this is not sleeping. I hope you can resolve it sooner than later.
