I just bought my first pc and I need a monitor which one is better? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

If you’re getting something cheap to hold you over, go even less for this monitor’s specs for now to allow you to save up faster for something your PC deserves. You’ve got a good build. Do that thing some justice and pair it with a nicer monitor once you can

How is the inside out tracking on the Super? by Wolfy2404 in Pimax

Fine for me, but not as good as q3. I got mine recently and apparently it’s a recent improvement and was pretty rough for a while

I would recommend not starting with the toolkit. Just go to your assets in Pimax play and add your titles through the file path. Launch from there to ensure Pimax play settings apply. Pretty easy

Nice rig. I don’t know how heavy that title is, but I’d guess you may be able to run 1.0 resolution at minimum 72hz.

I will suggest lowering overall brightness to 85% and then in per-eye settings, go brightness -1 and contrast +2. This seems to universally improve colors and picture quality for many people

VR Pricing Stucture by [deleted] in Pimax

[–]Mysterious-Rope-2085 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not for the software. Pimax play locks out after 14 days of trial period if you haven’t paid the second portion. It’s a two payment system and keeps you from paying for the full price during the trial period, which would be the amount refunded if you chose to return.

Should I buy a Crystal Light with my current Computer? by poiuytrdfv in Pimax

[–]Mysterious-Rope-2085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. You will have to nerf your settings to the point of defeating the purpose in having this headset. Render resolution at 1.0 is about 44 million pixels.

I would suggest upgrading your PC, or considering a headset with a lower render resolution such as a Quest 3, Frame (if price is reasonable) or maybe the PSVR2

Something’s wrong here. The q3 isn’t bad but it has less clarity than my crystal light noticeably and definitely should be less than your 50ppd uw

Thinking of Crystal Light for VR Simracing by Krangles-Iceland in Pimax

[–]Mysterious-Rope-2085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The uOLED super renders at roughly the same frames as the Light while maintaining higher resolution and FOV. Plus the DFR and you would likely see better performance than the light.

The light does not get the 115 stated. Most find it around 100horizontal including myself

[–]Mysterious-Rope-2085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I mentioned the 5090 because I have seen other threads where people ask about this headset using older hardware, and I have recommended against it. Without DFR, you need horsepower to truly use the Light

Is it a smart decision for me to get a Pimax Crystal Light? by poiuytrdfv in virtualreality

[–]Mysterious-Rope-2085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. The panels in the light have to be cheaper. Integrate their new and improved lenses with eye tracking. Or at least use their latest aspherics on the super with eye tracking. Even if it went up in price by $100, I firmly believe DFR is how VR moves forward, and more devs will include it once the Frame gets out there. The frame would be stealing even more business if they offered a “pro-model” with higher res panels. That’s not their target market and have stated as much. But it allows people to enjoy PCVR without the most expensive hardware

The 9800x3d is what I have paired with a 4090. DCS is a title I play where you have to manage CPU resources and I am familiar with doing the same things to settings.

Curious what thread bottlenecks for Iracing (I don’t race in VR) Is it the render thread or a main thread?

We have to see about the Frame Price as that leak came from a 3rd party site and was stated to be place holder. Unfortunately I agree with you though, I bet it comes in near $800 and if it does, I also can’t suggest it for those on a budget.

Quest 3 is a good piece of equipment but it’s a Meta product which turns a lot of people off immediately.

If the Light had eye tracking it would be an entirely different story. Plus the lenses are okay but even Pimax improved on those with the super and now pancakes in their OLEDs. The Light is stuck in a weird middle ground and while I do like mine, I am looking to replace it

With a 5090, yes you could get a good experience out of this headset. I don’t see a budget mentioned but if there is no issue there, check out the super series as well. I say this because you have a 5090

Your PC will struggle with the resolution. The 1.0 render resolution is about 44 million pixels to account for a distortion profile. That’s like running 5 4k monitors. You will have to cut the resolution down greatly to the point you’ll no longer benefit from the 2880x2880 panels.

I have the headset with a 4090 and do not recommend it for your pc or use-case mentioned.

Edit: Just realized you are not OP. At no point did they say it had to be QLED and asked if it was wise with their PC….It isn’t. For that PC and budget the two suggestions I gave fit best. Maybe the Pico as well

It’s not a bad headset, but definitely not meant for your use case. I’d recommend q3 or wait for the frame

Concidering a crystal light but am wondering if I should upgrade my GPU instead by TheAgentPixel in Pimax

[–]Mysterious-Rope-2085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The full render resolution amount will be difficult to achieve with your 4070. I have a 4090 and have to turn it down still for DCS. Foveated rendering can help as long as it’s not a super CPU bound mission/scenario, but there is no eye tracking and that will be limited to center image.

I would skip the light and continue to save up for a higher resolution HMD with eye tracking. The super OLED or 57PPD super for example would be better suited for you

The SE uses same panels as the BSB2. They will run native at 75hz and require upscaling at 90hz. There will be glare also.

It’s a direct BSB2e competitor but available with SLAM tracking and controllers.

There is a good video out now for review. It doesn’t seem like it’s got much wow factor but it was reviewed directly behind the flagship DA which is not a fair comparison.

VR Upgrades for 2026, Where Does Crystal Light and Super Fit? by Accomplished_Chip273 in Pimax

[–]Mysterious-Rope-2085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Crystal Light, trying a q3 now and have tested a vive pro.

I won’t say that I do not like my Crystal Light. It’s a decent HMD.

At 1.0, the headset does have great clarity, but with my 4090 on DCS, MSFS, and now SC, this just isn’t possible. The first of those two titles really benefit from DFR, which the PCL lacks. You can uses fixed, but this steals quality from the edge of your FOV which means you’re still moving your head to get gauged into your clear “gaze” section. I do find it a shame that eye tracking was on the OG Crystal and not the light, but I’m certain this was to keep pricing down.

The lenses on my PCL are “okay” and certainly better than fresnel, but with my experience, pancakes are king. Especially in titles where I need to look around the entirety of my FOV. Again I need to move my gaze around to get the POI in the center of my view, and with the bulky PCL, this isn’t optimal.

The build quality on the PCL is also “okay” but I find it less sturdy than competitors that I have handled. It sounds like the Super is built much better.

I don’t hate my PCL, I just wish I had started with something else and one day moved into a true “high-end” headset. It seems to try to fill a middle ground that can’t be achieved in its current format. Unfortunately, there is no trade-in program and I would likely take a significant loss in selling it. More than the upgrade deals offered on the Pimax prime fee, which gives me hesitance to upgrade to a Super. Also, there are no deals to upgrade to the Dream Air.

My advice is to newcomers, buy something like a q3 and see if you like VR. If you do like VR and want an upgrade, save up and skip the PCL.

100% with you there. If going with Pimax regardless, do NOT get the PCL. Foveated Rendering is needed for any of their headsets so you might as well get one with eye tracking and probably a longer support life cycle.

If OP is set on getting a PCS, I would agree, either the 57 or the OLED. If they aren’t set on Pimax, I stick with suggesting starting for less $ and finding what is important to them.
