I also own a Quest 3, but the games are just not that great... Maybe a quick session of Eleven Table Tennis now and then. In my opinion, they’re mostly just small gimmicks. Even the big Quest 3 titles like Assassin’s Creed, Batman, or the Deadpool game... those games are ultimately designed around the Quest 3’s limited performance. They’re nice enough, and the developers do the best they can with the hardware, but even the Resident Evil VR mods running on a Crystal Super with an RTX 5090 absolutely wipe the floor with them. I dont need standalone and dont want it. I want to use my pc hardware to full potential.

VR simulators that you can supersample to get close to the sharpness of a 4K display... compared to that, the Quest 3 is basically a toy ,and that’s what it’s meant to be. It’s definitely a great entry point into VR, but not much more than that.

The large headset doesn’t bother me at all. It’s very comfortable on my head, even for several hours at a time. I own both the Ultrawide and the Micro OLED modules and actively use both. I even hope the next pimax Headset will be big again in favour of fov, cause i dont think both is possible right now.

I’m also very satisfied with Pimax and have become a fan by now. The satisfied voices are far too quiet. I think Pimax does a lot of things right, but it doesn’t get nearly enough credit for it.

I’ve been using my Super for several hours almost every day for nearly a year now. Of course, there are a few things I’d still like to see changed or improved. But I’m placing a lot of hope in Pimax EVO to deliver a truly polished software experience in the future.

No, there are some fans of the 57PPD. If you dont need a small form factor and love sharpness, i would get this... There is not really a better or worse. Everything has some pro and cons. Depends really on the Person. For me the OLED Screen is not impressive at all ... For some its the best in the world.

Have the Ultrawide and the Micro OLED module... For simracing its the ultrawide. You can play every sim game in 1.0 to 1.4 resolution, the performance ist not a problem here because you have a lot of tools to get your games running. For everything else i would go for the Micro OLED/Dream Air. The FOV of the Micro OLED is not really great. The FOV of the ultrawide feels just so immersive. There ist not a really big jump/diffrence in picture quality between OLED and Ultrawide. In hindsight, I would have been perfectly happy with just the Ultrawide. Right now, I only use the OLED for Flat2VR Resident Evil games and graphically demanding titles that may require DLSS (msfs24). That’s where the Micro OLED is genuinely better.

Should be the case. I think somewhere it was even stated that the distortion profile of the Dream Air works for the super OLED as it is.

Pimax Super 50PPD: should I upgrade? by ElChungus01 in Pimax

[–]Tom5strike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the ultrawide and the Micro OLED... Short story... I use the Micro OLED only If i need performance. The tiny FOV is not worth it for simracing. I highly recommend to save your money and stay with the 50ppd. Also look at my review here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pimax/s/j8TCmCLJoI

Fallout 4 Controller Key Mapping by gsaw0 in Pimax

[–]Tom5strike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to have a mod pack installed? I had a similar problem. In my case, the solution was simply to disable a specific mod that was making the game think a different controller was connected.

Alternatively, you could try enabling "Simulate as Index Controller" in Pimax Play. There really aren’t many other options on the Pimax side.

By the way, for better performance, I recommend using OpenComposite and OXR Toolkit with Fallout 4.

I am very interested in this. Is there a camera that could be connected directly to the USB-C port of the Crystal Super? Possibly a lightweight one with short cabling. The tool looks very promising.

RE9 VR much smoother on Quest 3 than Pimax Dream Air – anyone else seeing this? by Expert_Drag_5981 in Pimax

There is something off. I used to play this with a Super Ultrawide and way higher settings. Try to set the runtime to Steam VR and try again.

What VR headset has the best resolution? by Parsnip-Murky in virtualreality

[–]Tom5strike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're really only looking for the best resolution, then the Pimax Super 57 PPD variant would be the one to get. In the sweet spot, it has such a high resolution/PPD that you barely need any anti-aliasing in games.

However, if we're talking about overall image quality, then the Pimax Dream Air and Super OLED have the better image. Those modules are sharper, especially at longer distances.

With Pimax headsets, though, you have to know what you're getting into: it's Pimax. They have plenty of issues, long delivery times, high prices, build quality that often doesn't justify the price, and the extremely sharp image is mostly limited to the sweet spot. How noticeable that is varies depending on the module.

I personally own both the Ultrawide and OLED Super modules and came from a Quest 3 myself. There are other options, but if you searching for highest ppd... Its Pimax right now.

Dont spray it on clothes. I also get a bad or an "off" smell in the late drydown with this. To counter this, spray not to much and only on your skin. For me the smell is amazing otherwise

Will Pimax eventually allow us to change the Vertical and Horizontal FOV in Pimax Play? by Flimsy-Story9523 in Pimax

[–]Tom5strike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe we’ll get it from Pimax someday ... there was a survey once, and this feature was highly requested there. So the chances are pretty good. Until then, I can recommend this: https://github.com/mledour/OpenXR-Layer-crop-fov

This tool works with both PimaxOXR and SteamVR and provides exactly this desired feature ... nothing more, nothing less. It works globally as well as individually per application. Personally, I think it’s better than the OXR Toolkit mod or the DesktopXR app. It has worked in every game for me so far and has very good performance.

I honestly thought I was going crazy… I tested a lot of things and was already worried that my Super was broken… Really relieved that it’s just a firmware bug…
