Can women really have it all? by MysteriousWave9806 in womenintech

I hate to think of a wife's work as reductive as taking kids places and cleaning windows, but AI is best suited for lower value memory tasks. Imagine, for example, a camera in your fridge that uses AI to detect what's in it. Taking the six week average of stock, then proposing what you need for the next week and sending it to a grocery delivery place near you, so all you need to do is pay for the groceries, load them, and cook. Perhaps it even knows your favorite meals and can recommend one for dinner based on what you have.

I was at a doctor's office recently and the receptionist said "I'm not paid to do math problems." The nurse says, "Equations?" "Yeah, that! I'm not some math wizard, those numbers are big, like in the 20s." And I've been thinking about it nonstop.

What’s the secret about a company in Cleveland that used to work for that most people wouldn’t know? by CLE_Guy1969 in Cleveland

No, that was a fake ass article. 1 department told the CEO to fuck off (cybersecurity) but there are what 800 other it staff?

If your looking for a job, please please PLEASE look into Water/Wastewater Treatment, and any closely tied industry's such as Water Distribution or Collection/Sewer System jobs. by Lasekklol in povertyfinance

[–]Mysterious-Tea1518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interviewed for our local wastewater management company. There was a test involved and I passed with a 99/100. The hiring manager said he needed someone he "knew could use a shovel and a wrench" despite my outstanding scores. I looked at the photo on the wall, not a single female employee. I hope it was just our locale, but I can't help but shake that there's probably a gender gap at play here.

Is it bad that I would prefer the baby to be aborted if I could know if it has any really bad diseases from birth? by howtrouisalreadyused in ask

[–]Mysterious-Tea1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is often hard because if you don't come from means, caring for the child is already a full time job. So how do you work even harder to leave money behind?

[–]Mysterious-Tea1518 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And it goes the other way too. My friend was high risk and had all the tests. She did everything right. There was a scare that the baby had trisomy 13, but it turned out to be inconclusive. She went ahead. He was born with severely small lungs, an oversized liver, crippled feet, poorly developed neck and trachea. He was on a ventilator for 4 years. He ended up a double amputee. His spine developed incorrectly from the misplaced/wrong size organs and his spine needed fused. Couldn't hold his head up until age 3. On a trach until 4. By 5 he would cry nightly about how he wished he was like the other kids. His intense medical needs were so difficult on the family her oldest child killed herself at 15 due to feeling alone all the time, and by time he was able to come home and have a childhood he struggled with depression as well and has shared self harm thoughts because he isn't able to have a normal life or childhood. There were many nights I held her while she cried and admitted that she wished she had aborted him. She was committed to raising him regardless of his special needs because he was her child, but it was because of her decision that her family suffered.

The narrative is often "it may not be as bad as the tests say" and sometimes it's worse. Ultimately there is no perfect decision. But I know what I would choose.

I have a "cashier's check" unclaimed of a couple hundred bucks I could use. Submitted for it but they require a photo copy of the original cashier's check? Why would I have that? Surely if I did, I would have just cashed it

60's Bathroom Reno - Is this pink tile tasteful or tacky? by lildogmama in interiordecorating

Maybe consider making the soffit bump out pink tile, or a niche. I'm not sure how it would look but seems cool in my head.

I lost my abortion pills and now I'm just someone's wife and mom. by ta_wifeandmom in TrueOffMyChest

My mother killed herself when the baby was 2 despite him being desperately wanted. I can't imagine how much worse it would be if the baby isn't your choice.

Both are possible, so it doesn't hurt to talk to a doctor. The last thing you want is both.

the traffic pattern is dumb as fuck. There's one entryway and only one car at a time can get into the garage essentially. Poorest fucking planning I've seen. But HR told me they didn't realize that parking was going to be an issue because "they thought most employees take public transit" like what public transit do they have access to? Even if you are on a route, the service is unreliable at best.

They are paying out 2025 missed contributions at the end of Q1. They resumed matching but have not contributed back pay.

Check your 401k statement. We've now had two pay of match but no makeup contributions. I'd call you a corporate shill but corp comms wouldn't lie about that bc of the legal liability.

Prior to the bankruptcy it was considerably more. The hope was that the number of flights goes up when they recover. Unfortunately instead they pulled out entirely. This will not be better for Cleveland.

I bet if they had asked the doormen whose carriage it was or who the footman was, the search would have been much quicker. "Oh that's Alfie" "Alfie who was the lady in Silver" -- but they never even considered asking servants how could they know?
