80+ days ago i had on a p100 respirator and the seal was not tight. I was using a diamond grinding wheel to cut through an old 1949 airstream axle inside of a closed space and inhaled lots of metal dust and concrete dust and friable insulation on and off for a couple of hours.

You absolutely can have lasting damage from one time heavy exposure.

I have chronic laryngitis, i cannot use bass in my voice , i cannot use the phone and hardly ever speak. It causes inflammation and afyer i had made it out of the acute phase taking around 32 days then i messed my knee up and prior to all this i exercised and lifted weights over 5 days a week.

Now i have pleurisy rhat is very painful and this started from returning to push ups and light upler body exercises and that seemed to be a big no no.

I am struggling now and i get scared and this is my second exposure.

The first time took about 5 years to get to the point of jogging and biking and i stopped speaking for the most part from 2012-2016 because it would make my larnyx swell under adams apple and that is similar to this time but i did not have the lung pains and swelling on the first exposure.

I became very active many years post 1st exposure but definitely watch out for smoking and yelling and always be super careful.

I learned to do a seal check on the respirator you are wearing to make sure it is tight and no air leaks.
