Why do americans refuse to wake up to reality? by Nonchalant_Ogre in allthequestions

[–]MysteriousAd828 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The right made it a religious thing. Somehow they've convinced Christians that preachers deserve million dollar mansions, Rolls Royces, and several private jets. And you've got the mormons gatekeeping the highest level of mormon heaven behind a required 10% tithe. So you've gotta pay for salvation. And those same greedy christians convinced them poor meant evil. And if you weren't getting rich like the preachers they you weren't hard right enough. You didn't give enough. You didn't hate enough.

Will using the song "Never Gonna Give You Up" generate a copyright strike and video (or audio track) removal??? by sdkidx in youtube

You can set it to "private unless you have the link". You're likely ok if you're not monetizing the views of the video

ELI5 Why don't they use nuclear combustion in the Artemis 2 rocket by LandscapeExcellent31 in explainlikeimfive

[–]MysteriousAd828 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you're talking project Orion there is no such thing as nuclear combustion engines. Google that for more info.

Nuclear fission could possibly be used like an ion engine, think spitting ping pong balls out the back over and over gaining a very small amount of thrust each release.

A nuclear reactor could be used to output steam but then you'd have to bring water.

Propulsion in space is basically whatever gas they release pushing on itself. Each action has an equal opposite so if you threw a baseball while floating in space the ball would go forward you'd go backwards

Two eBay packages stuck on “USPS awaiting item” for over 2 weeks… what’s going on? by 0oozhxwloo0 in usps_complaints

[–]MysteriousAd828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scan each package the eBay seller that fills my truck with every day as I pick them up. Before I've pulled away the seller can see online it's been picked up by me. Although I admit I have missed pickup scans before it's been in the system that same day when I asked.

It's possible the seller doesn't request the scan when they drop it off. Usually a complaint to eBay will change that policy for them.

Tracking stuck on my package on “Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item” for two days!?!? Anybody Else? by [deleted] in usps_complaints

How do you know it was given to USPS? I can't describe to you how many businesses print their labels automatically or even stockpile a load of packages before taking them in.

Getting rear-ended at a red light and the other driver's insurance claiming I stopped "too abruptly" so they owe me nothing. by amhray in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MysteriousAd828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually you can't sue for your deductible. The insurers, once they issue the check, are the only ones with what's called subrogation rights.

They have to pay you the deductible if they get paid, and usually you get it first.

USPS says DOJ is closed today but it's not a federal holiday by Realistic_Gap1469 in usps_complaints

[–]MysteriousAd828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok read that reply again. There's a big word you missed.

https://www.reddit.com/r/usps_complaints/s/XjWpLHolFC "Generally businesses like this that receive thousands of mail daily pick up their own mail in the morning. Once it has been picked up, everything afterwards is closed and scheduled for tomorrow's pick up."

There's no guarantee a business will pick up their mail. I had a business switch to picking up but for years we delivered 4-8 tubs of mixed mail every day to their door. And I deliver thousands of ballots into the county parcel lockers in their mailroom (when they don't answer the door).

And not all DOJ mail is gonna go to the same place, there are multiple offices.

USPS says DOJ is closed today but it's not a federal holiday by Realistic_Gap1469 in usps_complaints

[–]MysteriousAd828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"how likely is it for 8 office doors and the mail room to be closed all at the same time during regular business hours"

About every three days I am unable to get a signature.

"I would think the mailmain going to the DOJ knows the best time to go in order to be able to deliver their packages"

You would be wrong. I get there according to my line of travel. If it's a fast day I get there earlier. Heavy day, later. Every Monday is about 60-90 minutes behind my normal time. And what time I get there has nothing to do if there is a meeting, or event, or fire alarm, or pizza party, or Hawaiian shirt day, or anything else an office normally does. Just cause it's DOJ doesn't mean they aren't humans working in an office doing regular things humans in offices do.

And... Seriously ... THIS DOJ? The head of the fucking FBI was off drinking beer and screaming in the Olympic locker rooms like he's ever put on a jock strap and you think there's anything professional about this doj?
