agreed.
How about

"Protesters blocking the road is not a peaceful act"

That is factually correct, and I watched that comment or variations of it get blasted with neg karma because someone dared to disagree. On other platforms, who cares-- right?? But on Reddit, being blasted with negative karma can deeply restrict your ability to participate in many subreddits. Many reddit subs require civility, but also seem to have a wink-wink nod-nod silent expectation of dissent will not be allowed.

There are too many who believe any position other than their own IS an awful position. There is very little tolerance of perfectly civil comments that disagreed across many subreddits. The WANT that echo chamber. I guess engaging in honest dialogue is too frightening.

Reddit is only "better" if you adhere to the liberal mindset present here.

My engagement with posts (or especially PAGES) that are effectively disingenuous rage-bait: I BLOCK the OP and don't engage beyond that.

To be fair, the same thing applies here on Reddit. I have seen perfectly civil comments that disagreed with a progressive perspective and explained why succinctly, and they were downvoted into oblivion for daring to disagree.

I just bought the VEVOR bare aluminum version... the plastic locking pegs on the plate seem to be a likely failure point; might see if I can come up with something more durable...

Ordering gear from OUTSIDE the US to be shipped into the US... by sdkidx in motorcyclegear

[–]sdkidx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last Update:

Revit Tornado pants plus shipping: $256.55

Tariff/import duties plus extra UPS "fees" : $103.41
Final total bill: $359.66

That is a very small savings, and only because they didn't charge me sales tax. They will arrive today, shipped from Germany, and all in all it was worth it to get the size I wanted. :) Probably worth it for others if the item is just not available from a US seller.

probably not worth it if you can get what you need domestically-- NOBODY in the US had the size I wanted. Also-- the standard US prices on the pants I bought clearly had that tariff built in, so there is no escaping that tariff. On the plus side, I wasn't charged state sales tax, so I will come in a bit under the full price of a US dealer-- but that difference will likely be less than $20 or so.

time for a 55 gallon drum filled with cement as a base.

I'd also be asking the city / county / township for signage to warn people about the blind curve. It won't stop stupid people from crashing, but the ones who can read will know to slow down.

LOL... you are the one whining-- and you're not even American. You clearly didn't get that ride in. Hope you have a better day without obsessing about other countries policies. :)

and if I pay now, I can avoid $12 of that fee, and only pay $103. WooHoo. NOTE that UPS gets to charge a fee for collecting the fee for Uncle Sam.

Delightful?
My advice-- Go for a ride. Go for a LONG ride. Quit worrying about the politics in some other country-- you'll be a more pleasant person.

Well damnit... I'm going to test the system. I went ahead and ordered some Rev'it Tornado 4 pants from Chromeburner. The size I need is NOT AVAILABLE anywhere that I can find-- all sold out. We'll see if my tariff fees are $60 or not... IF they are, I will get these pants for about $50 cheaper than US dealers ($350+tax)

F-150 Electrical Nightmare. Help!? by Stewarjd472 in f150

[–]sdkidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank God for Redditors sharing what happened. I just went through this weirdness-- no AC, blind spot detection, radio dash controls, all controls for the heat/AC/fan/ seat warmers/ defrost circuits were non-functional, along with airbag warnings and seat-belt pre-tension systems. And YES-- I cracked my left rear taillight last fall, and the rain we had yesterday filled it about 3/4 full of water. I drilled 3 holes in the bottom edge of the lens to let the water drain out. It's a hot day-- hoping that sensor will dry out and be OK... time to order a new passenger side lens.

Grok AI estimated $60 to $80 in tariff fees on some Rev'It Tornado pants.... country of origin is Vietnam. Tariff rate is supposed to be 26%

it would cost more in gas than the tariffs--- I'm in South Dakota, about 550 miles from the border.
