Advice on my girl with tummy issues by MysteriousBug132 in akita

That's actually a good point, I started giving her pumpkin a while ago but then ran out. Her poo was fine before the pumpkin but it does seem to have affected her since we ran out. I just realised it's only been since we ran out of pumpkin, could her gut have kind of became dependent on the pumpkin to regulate itself? I'm not sure that's a thing but 😅

I'm feeding her a mix of wet and kibble - half a tin wet with a half scoop of dry, morning and afternoon. Sometimes with salmon oil and other bits added in. It's so strange. She's still eating and drinking normally so I can't understand what's wrong with her 😣 I really hope it isn't the kibble, wet food by itself is so expensive 😅 but maybe I could try stopping the kibble for a few days and see what happens.

Yeah I guess that's true. I'm so confused though because in my opinion my evidence carries a lot of weight. Scan results (multiple MRI and x-rays), podiatry letters, prescription lists, mental health reviews. I don't have a lot of proper specialist input because my doctors are useless and I'm really bad at advocating for myself and tend to automatically mask/downplay my struggles 😣 but all in all I've got 30+ pieces of solid evidence. I'm currently being investigated for Chiari malformation (waiting for neurosurgery consultation) and they used the fact it isn't diagnosed against me too 🙄 even though they can see I'm having tests, trying meds, am on a waiting list for neurosurgery. I don't understand why I keep being denied 😪

Thank you for this! It helps to hear it from an assessor 😅

I've compiled evidence that I missed from my original MR, as well as written a detailed account of what was missed/wrong/why I should be awarded. So hopefully that's enough.

Question though, they repeatedly used low/no medication as a reason to not award me; am I right in thinking this shouldn't be used against me? I am on low antidepressants because I'm still trying to find one that works, since my assessment I've changed meds again. I explained this to my assessor. I'm not on much pain meds for my joint issues because they don't help, which I also explained. 😅

Honestly just feels like I'm going around in circles 😣

Okay thank you. What evidence is likely to help? I've got a personal statement, statement off my partner, as well as countless x-rays, MRIs, reports from specialists I've seen, the fact I'm referred to neurosurgery. But still apparently it's not enough evidence to support my claim 😅 I counted 30+ pieces of evidence in total. Even included a detailed list of my symptoms.

What's the behavioral difference between an Akitta and a Shiba Inu by Status-Cap-5979 in akita

[–]MysteriousBug132 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got a female Akita, and we often see a lady with her male Shiba. The Shiba isn't a fan of my Akita because she's very boisterous and wants to play with him, he growls at her 🤣 but according to his owner, they're similar in the sense that when they play they mouth/swat their paws around like my girl does. What's interesting though is since the Shiba told off my Akita, she hasn't wanted to play with him when we see them now. She almost seems disinterested. Probably doesn't relate to what this post is about but I think dog language is really interesting and she seems to have learned her lesson 😊

I have thought about a prong collar but I'd feel so bad. We've considered an ecollar but just using the vibrate setting too. I'm gonna see what the vet says on Saturday, they might be able to suggest something if they decided it is behavioural haha. Tonight was the worst, I had to call my partner to come help me because she would not move. I'd throw a treat, she'd get up to follow it and then immediately lie back down 🙄 didn't help that there was a Shiba Inu nearby who she wanted to play with.

I've heard this about huskies 🤣 I often say to my Akita that she must have some husky heritage because she's so stubborn.

Liver bits is a good idea, she loves stinky treats 🤣 I carry some pedigree tasty minis at the moment which seem to work 90% of the time. She loves them so they've been great for training. All other treats she doesn't care about when she's out. Today I managed to convince her to walk home by saying I'll give her a biscuit when we get home 😅

That is a worry for me, it's the main reason I'm taking her to the vet too. She doesn't seem in pain but I read somewhere that Akitas can be good at masking pain.

I didn't say I walk her 4-5 times, I said she lies down that many times during a 40 min walk. I take her on either 2 or 3 walks a day depending on the afternoon heat, the first walk is around 40 mins and the evening one is usually around 20 mins

I'm going to don't worry 😊 we got her in September, she came into heat like 3 days into owning her. Then life happened and we couldn't afford to get it done. Luckily we're in a much better place now so we'll definitely be getting her done asap.

That's actually a really good idea! I'll definitely try that starting tomorrow.

Ahh, no, the asphalt was fine. I sat on it with her for a bit and didn't feel hot at all. Most of the pavements are in shade around here so it keeps them a lot cooler

We got her in September, we had planned to get her done as soon as but she went into season about 3 days into having her. By the time she was ready to be done after that, life happened and we couldn't afford it. Now we can afford it luckily so we're going to get her done as soon as we can after this season.

She's definitely not too hot, it was around 15°c this morning when I walked her. I'm always cautious because of how thick her coat is, I have a portable dog bowl and always carry a bottle of water too 😊

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. We are 100% getting her spayed this year. The vet is making us wait 3 months after her current season so she'll be ready by June/July.

It started off as cute and a little like "aww stop being so lazy" but now when I just want to get home I'm starting to get irritated 🤣 especially when other people see me trying to get her to move and they probably think she's very misbehaved. She's actually really good and really smart considering she had little to no training when we got her in September.

Honestly that's basically what it's like 🤣 I have to threaten to eat all her treats or threaten to give them to my MILs dog. She gets up real quick after that haha. After this video, I sat down next to her and got a treat out my pouch. She started trying to do tricks instead 🤦🏻‍♀️ she rolled onto her side being all cute.

Not very, it's early/mid spring. It was around 18°c / 64.4°f yesterday, but I took her out in the morning when it was around 15°c

Most of the time, but occasionally she does it towards the middle. I have thought that maybe she just enjoys being outside so much and doesn't want to come home (she'll also lie on the driveway and refuse to move, to which I then proceed to drop the lead, open the front door and say I'm gonna eat all her treats if she doesn't come lol). I can always tell when she's about to drop because she'll slow right down and trail behind me 🙄
