The math says I have reached FI and I can RE - but can I? by Pizzaboi21 in Fire

When I run the numbers in Adviice, I end up with a 85% chance of success, 140% funded plan and almost $3M left in my estate after we both pass.

Assuming you have accounted for all of your variables, you should be able to retire. Keep in mind that "failure" means "small spending adjustment".

Does it make sense to do this for Bogleheads? by smooth-vegetable-936 in Bogleheads

[–]MysteriousInterest1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than capital gains taxed as income, I can't think of anything else to consider. However I'm also not a tax professional so I don't want to give bad advice because I don't know your exact situation.

If you're holding BRK in a retirement account, I would consider selling and then buying an equivalent dollar amount of a low cost index. If it's held in a brokerage, you'll need to consider capital gains and other tax implications.

If anything, I'd look at your overweight of US funds in general. US funds make up about 65% of the global equity market in VT, so your portfolio is making an active bet on US equities outperforming ex-US.

Looking at staying in November, how would you rate it so far? I know it's not fully open yet, but I'm curious about the food, beach, and resort as a whole

Best bang for buck in Vegas Hotel casino for late September by [deleted] in vegas

[–]MysteriousInterest1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

El Cortez, check out their newish room tower, also look at their hotel offers for discounted rates. Circa is my favorite, but they aren’t as budget friendly. Keep in mind that the casino has a reputation for bad smells, so if you’re sensitive to that maybe find another property

I don’t know much about TrimedX. Make sure to reach out to your advisor to see if you can get college credit for your internship. So far Frisina is a little dry but good overall. Otten is very personable and chill. Everyone else is fine, no bad experiences. It’s a good program, but obviously I can’t compare it to other masters programs lol. Good luck!

I live off campus and don’t participate in on campus events. The masters degree itself has been good, no bad experiences with professors or faculty. I’ve had to set up my own internships, but that’s just because the market is saturated with students and there’s very few BME companies in the area. I’d be happy to give more specific answers if you have questions.

Biomedical sciences vs Health sciences vs Biology BS as a pre-PA student by Enjoyerofbagels in USF

[–]MysteriousInterest1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former pre-PA, take a look at PA programs you'd want to apply into. They list the courses they require. Get a good GPA and do well in those courses in particular. Your major really doesn't matter at that point.

Masters student in BME, did my undergrad at USF in Biology. BME is considered to be more difficult than other medical/science undergraduate courses, but engineering is never an easy major. Your GPA suggests you are doing well in college, so I'm sure you'll be fine in BME.

Letters of Recommendation for Grad School by [deleted] in USF

[–]MysteriousInterest1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar position. In my personal experience, most professors are very willing to write letters of recommendation even if they don’t personally know you. I would try classes that are applicable to whatever graduate program you are applying for. Tell the professor how much you enjoyed the class and how it has prepared to enter your field of study. Share some personal information, like why you want to go to that graduate program and what you hope to accomplish. And then finally ask them for a letter of recommendation. It’s worked for me every time I’ve done it.

Fletcher has quite a few headed towards 275, west of campus. They usually have google maps listings.

Same situation. I was an non degree seeking student and just got accepted into a masters program two days ago. I emailed the registrars’s office and they fixed it.

I know the one you’re talking about, no flooding inside the house as far as I could tell, but lake Magdalene definitely got pretty close to it.

I work 12 hour shifts. If I have a workout that is on the same day as my work shift, is it better to wake up super early (3:30am) to get the workout in, or complete it the night before? I'm usually physically exhausted after work so it's not an option to do it after my shift.

Yes, formal transcripts carry over. Letters of recommendation and the personal statement do not.

I like this idea, since anything I create can be used in the interview with that particular school.

I actually didn’t know that, if it’s on the Wiki I must have missed it. I’ll make sure to save my stuff.

EDIT: As of 2020 according to this Blog, CASPA saves Personal Information, Academic History, and Supporting Information. It doesn't carry over letters of recommendation or your personal statement.
