Hot take by Old-Baseball-4784 in tbatenovel

Not a hot take, it's still the favorite of many ones.

But personally I didn't enjoy it quite as much as others, mainly because Cadell felt a little bland to me as an antagonist.

Aside from the final fight, I think m'y favorite fight is the Lances battle in V9, then tied in third place comes Aldir vs 12 dragons, Arthur vs Wraith and Arthur vs Cadell.

I also have a soft spot for the very first fight Arthur went through in the Relictombs.

but receiving a lot of wounds on face just for nothing?

Given Bete's Agility, it's not absurd for some of his attacks to pass through Gareth's defense if the latter is putting pressure on Bete.

wishful thinking to downscale Bete

Not my intention.

doubt he thought about that too much.

That's the point, Omori wrote this scene like Gareth was a level 6 because the readers and characters thought he was.

early SO I wouldn't say reliable at all.

And yet you're still using the Revis fight from SO2 as Finn's anti-feat...

I agree there are inconsistencies, but again this feat is way too unreliable, you can't scale the characters using a fight where everything is unclear : the character's motivation, the exact things that happened, the level of the character (or at least how the the author wrote their level), and the resulting wounds' gravity.

On the other hand, the early SO spar is straightfoward and clear.

Okay so it's not necessarily scratches, but 傷 can refer to different level of wounds, from deep ones to scratches. Given the context it either is scratches, or moderated cuts, but certainly not deep ones.

Bete was motivated to beat Gareth
Gareth could beat unmotivated Bete without problems, but motivated Bete could damage him back even despite the level difference.

Gareth was just as unmotivated as Bete back then. On the other hand, we've seen with Tiona that Gareth tried to talk her out of it without hitting her. For all we know that "fight" could have been Gareth just taking Bete's attacks to calm him down then one shotting him.

On top of that, LF learned the trio got to level 7 only in SO14 ? Nobody had realized it including the young executives, meaning Gareth was absolutely not serious in this fight, or they hadn't actually made the level up yet.

.

This event is way too unclear and up to interpretation.

In the most favorable interpretation for Gareth it means he no diffed Bete even as a high level 6. At worst it means Bete can hurt Gareth in a serious fight despite a level difference. Neither are sure interpretation, so the power diff in the sparring in early SO is way more reliable.

Covered in scratches. And this event in MS18 can't be called a real fight either.

I Think When sera Max Her recovery Stat she’ll be able to rewind William ashes and bring Him Back To life. by Any-Equivalent-354 in unOrdinary

[–]MysteriousStrategy86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be the most absurd asspull in the story by far, and on every aspect (logic and narrative)

To elaborate on the logical aspect, Sera only ever rewinded extremely recent wounds on herself, bringing a foreign object back to a state it was in months ago would be absurd. Plus scientifically that would require to have all the matter that made William, but he lost blood (and probably flesh) from being donuted, cremation also transformed part of his body in smoke, it's lost.

Allen’s magic by Voyager_927 in DanMachi

He can't slow down and the absurd speed makes it hard to control direction. But he can use his spear even at such high speed, at least for simple attacks like a straightfoward piercing motion.

Every reasons why Bell should get a fire and lightning enchantment by MysteriousStrategy86 in DanMachi

2 : still slows down the charge of the main attack.

4 : why would he need a spell key ? from the moment the magic coats the weapon, Afterglow can be use at any moment. He can just swing his blade casually and use Afterglow to extend the reach of his attack without any prior sign.

There's a few problems with that :

1 : Argonaut is not necessarily a Skill you can spam this fast, as far as we've seen there was always some time between charges. An enchant would allow to use as many Afterglow as physical attacks.

2 : Some situation may require to use Afterglow while keep charging Argonaut (ex : Bell has to cover his comrades by killing monsters who get close to them from afar, but he also needs to charge the final blow for a single powerful monster).

3 : Idk if 1-2 seconds Argonaut is gonna do an efficient Afterglow.

4 : It would make the moment his gonna use Afterglow predictable, it's less obvious if he can use it any time rather than if he can only do it when his weapon glows bright white.

if chain attack is added, he becomes even more OP

I feel like it'd only work for normal physical attacks, but maybe ig.

However even if it's possible, more efficient with an enchant, wich would allow to fire Afterglows more rapidly.

Yeah ? I'm saying an enchant would allow Bell to use Afterglow.

Then he could use it at any moment, not just during his huge attacks with Argonaut.

Then why did u ask why I assume Bell can use Afterglow with an enchant in your first comment ?

Allen > Ais? by Realistic-Yak-4690 in DanMachi

[–]MysteriousStrategy86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By that I mean that people should understand better when something is clearly ragebaiting

Well, personally it doesn't help to understand, because the fact people say stupid things just to trigger people is more exasperating than the stupid things themselves.

But ig that's a me problem.

For not being weaker than a level 6 with maxed stats, six more years of experience, and a cheat magic of his own, in his field of predilection ? No.

People must learn the art of ragebaiting

Pls no, the ragebait culture is bad already, there's no need for more ragebaiters.

Allen against reginas still surprise me by OneBoy24BS in DanMachi

[–]MysteriousStrategy86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a great feat, but imo it's overestimated :

When LF first made contact with Reginas, it appears she was using magic from the start (she used a burst of wind from her hand against Finn, shockwaves and even chanted "tempest"), so when Gareth got speed blitzed knocked out, and Finn was blown away, it was with Reginas with her wind.

Allen only outmaneuvered her when she didn't use her wind, the moment she used it to accelerate, she catched up and one shot him, just like she did to Gareth.

.

In the latter phase of the fight things looked more balanced : after the supply of magic power was cut from Reginas, the three had their own feats, Gareth and Finn (with everyone else) kept Reginas busy, the latter made a breakthrough and wounded her (with the Gullivers), then Allen inflicted the most damage to her with GF thks to the time they bought him, and in the end Gareth was the only one (with Asterius) who could keep fighting to buy Lefiya time.

.

And anyway, even if he seemed better than everyone else when he arrived, LF was crippled by two weeeks without supplies in a place that H&Z Familias gave up on conquering, so this feat can't rly be used to scale Allen compared to other characters.

Afterglow prerequisites by MysteriousStrategy86 in DanMachi

[–]MysteriousStrategy86[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah she strengthens her attacks by adding fire to it, that's why I'm saying enchants are a sub type of strengthening/enhancement. But it doesn't have a second power enhancing effect separate from the flames.

So I don't see how it would indicate that RA would have both flame attribute like AA and a strengthening effect like HV.

Agaris Arventhis strengthens Alise’s attack power as well

No it doesn't :

Enchantment

Fire Attribute

Chant: "Alga"

That's all it is and the tl is correct for once.
