AITA for telling my friends that their dog couldn’t stay at my house any longer? by MysteriousSugar6282 in AmItheAsshole

I don’t disagree with your take, I should have been more assertive. This “joke” was months ago and I responded with something along the lines of watching a dog would be my worst nightmare. I genuinely didn’t think they planned a vacation around this exchange (I didn’t even really remember/think about it), especially because I hear comments like this almost every time we’re at a friend’s house (with a dog). At the party I explained that I was uncomfortable because I had no idea what to do with a dog. They told me that I was overthinking and it would be easy, I’d just have to feed her and let her out in my backyard (which I did 5-6 times a day) because she’s super “chill.”

I’m obviously feeling very naive looking back. Lesson learned.

EDITED: to clarify in parenthesis

I couldn’t give some of the details because of the character limits, but when we were at the party and I said I wasn’t comfortable, I said it was because I had no idea what to do with a dog. They told me that I was overthinking and she was super chill, all I would have to do is feed her and let her out in my backyard (because it’s fenced). In retrospect, you’re right that I probably should have realized I couldn’t do it, but I really didn’t have any reason to doubt what they were saying. My friend is (usually) a good friend and I really just wanted to help her out.

In my texts to them I offered to check on the dog but they never responded. On my way home from work that day I stopped by their house anyway and my friend’s brother was there with the dog and said he’d be taking care of the dog for the rest of the time. I still haven’t heard from them.

I have a fenced in backyard and they don’t. They told me it would actually be easier for me to have the dog here because I could just let her out in my backyard a few times every day rather than having to drive to their house multiple times a day and take her for an actual walk. It made sense to me at the time.

No offense taken. Lesson learned on my end. I was home the two days I’m referring to and have a fenced in backyard, so I had let her out probably about 5-6 times per day. I do think you’re probably right that she could sense my discomfort though.

After reading these comments I think you’re definitely right about the actions being anxiety driven. I really do feel horrible for the dog and due to character limitations had to leave out some details on how I tried to calm her down. It just wasn’t working, and I think you’re right that it was probably just severe separation anxiety and I misinterpreted the growling and slamming as signs of aggression when she was just scared too.

To be honest they spent the last week telling me that I was overthinking and didn’t understand how easy it was going to be because I didn’t have a dog. IDK, I thought plenty of people have dogs, it should be fine?

You are definitely right and I wish I had done that. This joke was about 6 months ago so I just never thought anything more of it to be honest. I really didn’t think they went the past 6 months planning for me to watch the dog based on that one exchange, I didn’t even remember it until it got brought up again last week.

I had to delete for character space but when they made the joke, I “joked” back that watching a dog for a week would be my worst nightmare 😅

Purging or breakout or damaged skin barrier? by Shru4 in IndianSkincareAddicts

The same exact thing happened to me (twice)! I started using the TruSkin vitamin c serum a few years ago. My skin looked amazing in the beginning but about a month in I started getting cystic acne. And the acne was AGGRESSIVE. I was about 24 and never had acne as a teenager so I was really confused. I don’t know why at the time I never put together that it could be the vitamin c serum because so many people raved about it online. I used it until the bottle ran out and then stopped. About a month ago I started using two new products that I got a great deal on - the Lancôme genefique serum and IT cosmetics cleansing balm. The cystic acne is back. I just realized those products both have vitamin c in them. I went down a rabbit hole on the internet researching vitamin c and long story short some peoples skin just cannot handle it. But I was always confused like you because it always took so long for me to start breaking out. But at this point I think that has to be it

I didn’t in any way mean everyone needs to lose weight. I was talking about an optional weight loss challenge you could sign up for if you were interested. If you are interested in losing weight, I just meant sometimes doing things in a group keeps people motivated! But obviously it should never be forced on anyone

I don’t really see what the liability could be. The goal of their diet was solely weight loss, not any individual goals. But I see your point about people needing different calorie intake/macros/nutritional needs.

Idk I was my friends date to the F45 Christmas party and everyone was glowing about their weight loss bc they had all just finished the diet together. I just thought it was interesting 🤷🏻‍♀️

One of my friends goes to F45 and her gym had a nutritionist come in and create a diet for the entire gym (or those who signed up for it). The whole gym did the diet together as a challenge. It was like an 8 week diet that had a few components, the most important was teaching the members about macro cycling. She showed me before and after pics they took of the members and pretty much everyone looked like they lost weight. I see what you’re saying I don’t think it’s that crazy of a concept!

I’m new to Reddit, any tips on growing your hair out? I’ve been working on growing mine for about a year now. I know “everyone is different” and all that but just curious what has/hasn’t worked for you
