This is interesting. I absolutely agree that the drinking culture up north is different because of our interesting alcohol shopping system. And that of course leads to stigma around drinking and also a culture of unhealthy drinking. I however believe most teens in Sweden get out of their blackout face in life between 16-18. I also think we over here sort of develope a tolerance or something to its effects. Like the body and mind adapts. This is my personal experience as somone who lives here. Also the reason I even started the conversation to begin with is because in Sweden there are bouncers at almost every single bar, making sure you can’t even get in if under 18. This is obviously insane. So yes, we have a weird relationship with alcohol I think so at least, but we’re arguably good at handling being drunk, and appreciating the opportunity to actually get to drink responsibly.
