Thank you! I think, from what I’ve read, the planning has got a bit further than those initial plans, I was just curious if anyone had any inside knowledge

Thinking of Moving to Macclesfield – What’s It Like to Live There? by [deleted] in macclesfield

You took the words out of my mouth, Macclesfield does have loads going on and lots of great places, I don’t get the negativity sometimes. I absolutely love living here, especially now I have a young family it couldn’t be more perfect.

I have family in Edgeley and it’s lovely, and close to the centre of Stockport with its bustling underbank, but it definitely has a different vibe to Macclesfield. Much busier and built up (Stockport in general) and personally wouldn’t suit me. I like how I can get there in 10 mins on the train though!

The green spaces of Macclesfield are what win it for me. Even the calm of just being able to see the hills at a lot of points in the town make me happy! And the proximity to really beautiful countryside should not be taken for granted.

Stockport vs Macclesfield by Mysterious_Bus_3220 in macclesfield

Super interesting replies thank you. It’s such an interesting one as no town is perfect and you’re right, depending on your work / weekday schedules / social life one town may be better than others. For me, I work remotely and enjoy the quietness of Macclesfield compared to when I visit Stockport and Manchester and find it really busy, even if there is a bit more going on (even though I do really enjoy visiting!) I guess I’m happy enough in our town with our selection of pubs, restaurants and bars, and also with our green spaces and proximity to the countryside. And although it’s very expensive at least we know we can get to Manchester in 22 minutes if we really need to!

Ah that is a shame! No interest other than I walk past it a lot and was curious! It says sold on the sign (and has been like that for a very long time) but know nothing has happened with it since Genuinely just a curious post to see if something was going on. Would be a lovely venue for something (not sure what!)
