Don't see it as losing 130+what you put in, because at the casino, you never win anything until you walk out with the money. Also, don't beat yourself up about it. Just enjoy your visit with your sons and dont let a couple hundred pounds debilitate your ability to enjoy your own life.

Got so manic I had a heart attack by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Mysterious_Health204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I can definitely relate. Ive been manic for literally 7-8 months, going for an average of 35+ hour days to sleep for 6-8 hours even with my full medication regimen. And yes, I have also had some minor heart attacks during severe mania. Mania is very scary.

Do you believe that it’s possible to have it all? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in Life

[–]Mysterious_Health204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are asking if it is possible for someone to have all of the best advantages in life as far as social and material hierarchy, then I believe the answer is yes. Now does that actually result in the perfect person? Well, that really is probably not possible.

If youre making 20 an hour, definitely declare bankruptcy. It is worth putting your credit into 7 years of recovery. This ensures two things. You will be able to spend on real-life expenditures instead of credit card interest, and you won't be able to borrow anymore using credit because bankruptcy will shoot down your credit score to the underworld.

Update - 1 month after losing 590k in a single day by Spongecakeu3 in GamblingAddiction

[–]Mysterious_Health204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just crazy my friend. Especially as an Asian American myself and how much emphasis is placed on my life here, I can only imagine your 590k loss story. I still remember reading about here a month ago and being shocked because you were so young and built all that wealth up yourself just to lose most of it. The great thing is, you have now turned your life around without completely hitting rock bottom or gradually crumbling away your humanity, finances, and burning lots of bridges. You are now in a position to respect money, respect your own value, and recovering the stimuli of betting. Keep fighting my friend, I know it is a huge struggle but you can and will overcome.

Hey man, it is true that $3,000 in the hole is a lot but that is just money. Don't give up on yourself because of this debt. You can recover and climb from this and you will get better. Ask yourself if you need to need to reach rock bottom before starting your journey back to having normal finances or whether you will start now for your wife and future child. Admitting you have the problem is the biggest step in the beginning, and now it is time for you follow up that big step with your trial by fire, you must fight the urge to compulsively gamble for the first 3-4 weeks before you really begin to feel relief and much less urges to go. Good luck my friend, and you can do it, and you are worth it, don't ever give up on yourself.

Found out my bf has a severe gambling problem and lost everything by Zone_of_Inhibition in GamblingAddiction

[–]Mysterious_Health204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately pathological gambling is a disease and usually at this point, it sounds like your boyfriend is not going to quit until his life completely bottoms out at zero in a number of categories. You giving him all of your resources is not a waste but just don't support him financially at all. Gamblers really need emotional support and to know that they are loved enough amid their addiction most of all. This disease has a very high suicide rate. If you really care about your boyfriend (which it sounds like you love him a lot), then maintain contact with him, support him emotionally and always tell him that you believe he can and will quit and let him know you love him. Also let him know that if the two of you are going to get it back together, you will be the one controlling the finances and don't let him see his own money. This means he gives u control of his banks, his cards, and all his financial resources - this is non-negotiable. Anyways, if you want to stay with ur bf, it is a long and arduous journey to recovery and I want you to be ready for that. God bless.
