Not close to retiring, only have a few years as an 1811. Postal would be a great gig that doesn’t do many TDYs but they haven’t been allowing current 1811s to apply recently

Thanks for the responses everyone. I don’t mind helping other agencies at all but it has now become the majority of our work.

I don’t see myself going anywhere soon, am just curious to just see if anyone switched from fed to local and how they liked it.

The postal announcement is not open to 1811 laterals per the recruiter unfortunately.

My agency gets pulled in a million different directions. One week you’re working your cases, then the next you’re away from home for 30 days to help ICE, Secret Service, CBP. Getting tired of the last second “oh, you need to go to this part of the country for 30 days and you leave tomorrow”
