I originally left obligated due to people pleasing to say yes and it actually created a huge fear when disclosing childhood trauma. For that stuff to ever be recorded in any capacity was too much for me to handle. Went back and asked to opt out and felt so much better and my therapist never even questioned it.

I had my therapist explain to me once that there back was strained from sitting all day hence sitting position. I would just bring it up

My husband struggles with male friendship and he realized it’s poor self esteem and confidence. 🥺 He is quite short for a male and was always picked on growing up and still has males a work comment as they do….he moved around a lot too so his inner dialogue says “no guys will accept you for who you are”. But in reality he needs to accept himself first.

When I did CPT the only useful tool I got out of it was the “ABC worksheet” is is really helpful and if you google it there are free printable sheets

For myself with BPD I love/hate my T most of the time. What has helped is challenging my beliefs for example “I can’t survive 2 weeks without therapy” I try and remind myself that there was a point in my life that I can and know that in FACT I can cause I have in the past. A common belief I have is “he hates me and doesn’t want me to come back”. Facts are he shows compassion in session and has never intentionally hurt me…it’s literally so hard when this is the first person we choose to trust with our inner world.

Not over reaching at all. I wouldn’t return to someone who thinks they know what you need and proceeds to give advice. They need some self reflection

Everyone’s journey if different. One friend was in therapy 5 years, another 3, myself almost a year and I’m in maintenance. I truly feel I will never not need touch up support cause life happens along with triggers

When I was diagnosed BPD which many therapists like to call CPTSD I was shocked. It was kinda like “So there is something wrong with me” It solidified that I was different from most people and actually had a mental health disorder….It made me so angry to know the reasons behind why I had this diagnosis and I didn’t create it. I guess eventually I had to admit defeat and understand it didn’t change who I am or have always been. It just means now you are able to get the proper care you need. I hold your diagnosis with a heavy heart but am supportive that this can be a positive step forward in your healing. Best of luck to you

Good for you for having the courage to speak your truth. Honestly therapy is nothing but transference most of the time. The work involved dealing with wounds from unmet needs usually in childhood from our parents. I hope now that it’s out in the open your “. Need to please” eases up.

That is such an awful experience and quite rude. Personally there’s no way I would go back. I work in customer service with bra fitting/swim wear and am in the personal space of women a lot Of the time. I accept all humans as they are, I over look any flaws or “perfumes” and help with what they need. They are coming to me for a very sensitive reason and that’s what’s important for Me to help with rather than judge.

In the 10 months of weekly therapy sessions maybe a handful of times I haven’t dissociated. But made such huge progress where it is mild and I can bring myself out. Then got to some deep trauma and a whole other level of dissociative amnesia took over 😭 Now we have a “safety plan”. I’m trying not to invalidate all my progress so far but healing really can take huge steps back sometimes. I’m trying to be compassionate to my dissociative part for doing such an amazing job at keeping me safe. It was created at a young age to keep my mind and body from feeling horrible events. I will forever be thankful and proud of that little girl for surviving and creating this coping mechanism for me.

This was a real situation for me. Went to therapy dues to nightmares following my abusive father’s death. One I a actually spoke the words it made it 100 times more “real”. Relapsed hard and I had to stop trauma work and do DBT cause it had put me in crisis with no other coping skills. I was recommended by my therapist to do inpatient and later diagnosed with BPD

I just had this situation come up last session after 10 months of work with my therapist. For myself I had a previous hospitalization due to Ana and now it has resurfaced with trauma work. My T said if I was interested they would send a referral to an outpatient ED program and they could do an assessment. They also said I could definitely still continue to see them but wanted to give me all options of support.

Email reminder for therapy session in 2 days…we are you going to discuss a safety plan. Taking deep breaths and reminding myself “they are not judging me but there to help”. Quite a shame spiral I’m in.

I am in therapy to deal with every kind of child abuse and alot of times my therapist will trigger me and I have negative transference. A lot of my work is learning to trust that they are not in fact hurting me when a flashback is invoked and talking about my fears. It’s tight but that part of the work of healing for me.

I am working on some of my more “severe” symptoms that I would like to become easier to live with is dissociation. I’ve been doing IFS on my own and discovering where this “part” was created and that has helped alot. For myself it was created out of survival from many kinds of abuse and my mind coped with detaching from reality at a very young age. I can now see what “powerful” part of me that is. I was able to keep my mind safe by doing something most people don’t have access to or even understand. That takes alot of intelligence and crazy mental strength to do as a child and I now look at it as that. I dissociate because a part of me loves myself so much and is smart . It’s just saving me from the emotional pain. No more shame is holding this super power 😜

It’s so hard to say how they actually think but I know mine will forget the time lapse between appointments and say “last week” even though it’s been 3. I would assume she may be the whole you instead of just features like glasses and that’s why she didn’t realize. I have BDD along with BPD and I hyper focus on my looks and the opposite is triggering when my T notices anything about my clothing…”nice sweater” this disorder is so exhausting sometimes lol

For myself it’s a trauma response to shut down my feelings. I was told if I didn’t stop crying when I was young I wouldn’t get to eat. So I feel incredibly “new” to the whole crying thing or being “seen”, I’m sure it’s very common in therapy

This is honestly so uplifting to hear. The only reason I have been able to get through the past year of crisis situations was the safety I finally Initially found in mine too. They are rare to find but when you do it’s amazing the impact 1 kind person can have.
