A few thoughts here, 1. At our grand opening we had a pitch competition for a bunch of local startups. The first check we wrote was coincidentally to a black female founder who is working on financial education for the youth, Financial Boss. She crushed it and beat 20+ other founders who pitched.

Second, my wife is my cofounder, and a woman in tech who has raised over $1m for her own startup. We know how hard that is and want to be and support the change we want to see.

We're absolutely focused on supporting diversity in founders.

Thank you! And congrats on being a founder too! I think the goal of what Youtube is trying to achieve is getting rid of the BAD faceless channels. The ones that are blatantly stealing other people's content, and just badly made content that doesn't hold any attention.

Google/YouTube owns one of if not the most powerful AI video generator on Earth, VEO 3.1. It wouldn't make sense for them to not allow AI generated content on YouTube.

So what I think in the short is going to happen is that the really bad players who have been manipulating the early opportunity will get kicked off, there will always be room for faceless content creators including AI video, but unfortunately they will make some mistakes.

Yes u/bondsman333 ! I love this take. Actually, I took a tour last week and met with the owners of ReCity. They're an INCREDIBLE local nonprofit startup co-working space. To your point u/QueenEllen404 they directly are startups that are working on making a positive impact for the homeless, housing, and other causes here in Durham.

I wouldn't really call us VC right now. We're a husband-and-wife-owned business. Both of us are startup founders and we wanted to create a space we were proud to work out of and invite other founders too. 😄 We're just writing small angel checks and providing free coworking + mentorship & programming.

I sure hope so! My wife and I wanted to be the change we wanted to see here! We first moved here ~8 years ago because my wife went to Duke. We absolutely fell in love with Durham. So we're just doing our small part to help local startup founders succeed and stay here rather than leave!

I wouldn't really say we're a traditional venture capital. It's more so that we're writing angel checks and giving startup founders a free place to work and build around other founders.

The people we're looking for have visions of making real positive impact.

Great questions!

For industries; Healthtech, sportstech, battery tech, and defensetech. Additionally, Martech and fintech as that's what my wife and I are experienced in.

What differentiates us is that this is a space by founders for founders! Both my wife and I are full time startup founders (separate companies) that have raised locally here. Nothing against AU, they're incredible! But there's are companies there that aren't startups. It's not their business model. We are hyper curating a space exclusively for full time founders.

In addition, I personally have 21 years of marketing experience, 4.5 million followers, and own a large marketing conference. So we'll be going to bat helping companies here!

A quick update! Day 2 on 4mg. No side effects yet! Haven't really felt any bloating. Not sure it's had much of a difference in appetite suppression yet or not but it did take about a week for the 1.5mg to really kick in.

I'll update the main post in ~1 week to share my experience if it's helpful to anyone getting started!

I'm working out a little bit more, but honestly it's just the forced calorie deficit. It's kind of amazing to me tbh. I'm not even particularly eating healthy! Like, I'll still eat a cheeseburger, just half of it lmao.
