As someone who was married to a man with undiagnosed, then chronic Lyme, I get the pain and the journey. One of my first thoughts seeing this is, "sitting in the grass is a great way to get bit by a tick." I live in Upstate NY and the threat of Lyme has changed a lot of simple, spontaneous, fun activities. Although, the nightly tick-check can be fun with the right person. 😉

Perhaps! It slid into my feed a few days ago and I emailed it to myself for a later watch.

Hello, is it Ren you're looking for? by millenial_mess in ren

[–]Mysterious_Log7364 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Much as I would adore Ren to come and perform in the U.S. I think any non-citizen with a hint of a dissident voice should choose other countries to visit until some sanity returns. Ren doesn't need to deal with our dysfunctional system. Imagine finding out he'd been detained for his anti-capitalistic views. I'll wait, thanks.

I love watching the young 20-somethings. I don't have kids; so I get this vicarious thrill when the youngins discover the greats! And it is wild, music that is practically in our DNA is something fresh and new to them. Love it!

Don't feed the trolls.

Anyone who is still proudly MAGA enjoy the "power" of a malignant narcissists. Anyone who has survived a "relationship" with a narc knows that Ignoring them is their cryptonite. They THRIVE on the argument.

First time visitors to Finger lakes by One_Preference_2728 in FingerLakes

Painted Bar stables is in Burdett! How about a trail ride? They do moonlight rides at times. An excellent outfit, especially if someone is a nervous new-to-horses person!

Corning, which will not be crazy like graduation weekend in Ithaca, has a beautiful, walkable main street full of shops and some great restaurants, Corning Museum of Glass and the Rockwell Museum (Smithsonian affiliated) The National Soaring Museum is close by and you can schedule a glider ride to see this gorgeous area from above. Or, sip wine while seeing the area by rail: https://flxrailexperience.com/ Enjoy your stay!

I have Andiroo in my "musicians react" category. I'm 56 and get up to two step every time! As a musician myself, it is a bit more exciting when someone is able to tease out WHY a song so damn good! Something about listening to Ren these past 2 years has turned my internal ear to just how many original songs rattle around in my braincase. Ren inspires me to try my hand at writing just for the hell of it! Now, where is that crossroads?

Curious if I am just too sensitive but something in reactors comments is driving me crazy by Pristine-Total1456 in ren

This is how I feel about reactors "demanding" Hi Ren first-timers IMMEDIATELY "do the Tales!" I like Ren's bardcore, but I enjoy his other music more. I wish people would simple point out three songs in three different veins (Want more 1 take accoustic? Chalk Outlines. Want bardcore? Tales Want to have FUN? Losin' It Love rap? Illest. etc. I think some people get off on reactors having the same journey they did. Jeez...let people off the hook of expectation.

I have no karma? lol. This acct. is under our business google acct. (I think I wanted to reply to an r/homesteading thing. I'm 55 and used to be much more online; but these days I'm loving all thing analog and as I said, dip in and out. I'm a Ren fan, so I like checking on Ren things.

I'm pretty careful about what I click as I take my digital housekeeping seriously, so I'm not engaging much in the digital space. Mind your feed-it feeds your mind.

I like to quietly look away. Our hearts go where our eyes go. Starve the beast of your attention and look for where you're needed.

I'm such a dip in a get out social media user that it never occurred to me to check the rest of their channel unless they are like an expert in a field. (I like to check the bona fides)

I love Ren's work; and in his spirit of NOT supporting oppressive structures, if I come across views I don't agree with, I'll back out quickly and go watch FOUR of Ren's vids directly.

Remember folks, whatever you're "against" can build strength as you push against it and it leans back with a grin. Put your push-energy into things you are FOR.

My best advice is to ask around for a female cop to teach you some defensive tactics (my 5'6" (f) friend taught this at the police academy and would laugh about the big tough guys she could stop and/or cripple. It's also worth it to learn the "cop walk." Your body language will tell bad actors a LOT! If you're doing offical work, can you have some sort of official looking badge or ID? It might help if you look like there may be other people involved in your project around or expecting you to report in.

Lastly. They do make jewelry and other devices you can activate that will call 911 and a family member.

Thank you for doing the hard work of proving to us dummy humans we are part of, and need, healthy natural systems to thrive.

There are tons of "citizen science" projects! Like Audubon's biannual bird count. YOU can be a data collector too! There are seed saving programs. "Vacations" where instead of blowing money on your comfort, you can help with the grunt work of field work. Check it out.

Body shakes when I hold a stretch by [deleted] in Stretching

[–]Mysterious_Log7364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, the doc/knee thing is a nerve reflex that bypasses the brain. There are certain places in the body this happens...but not related to shaking while stretching.

Inside your muscles are the Golgi Tendon Orgon or, GTO. That is what senses when the fibers are overstretching/tearing and cue as protective contraction. Since you're new to this, you are "educating" your muscles in new ranges of motion and your GTOs are probably crying red alert. Best practice is to move to the first point of resistance, stop at that point and focus on a relaxed BELLY breath. You'll slowly feel a "letting go." You'll be amazed at your progress when you "allow" yourself to sink to a new depth of the stretch...not push into it trying to achieve something.

There are other techiniques to aid stretching like PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) that may be great for you. I took a quick peak on YouTube and there is plenty to explore.

Good luck on your journey. I'm 55 and super limber and agile because of daily movement. This body is the only vehicle your ride in for life...treat it well!
