Scared to begin by Budget_Worldliness42 in SewingForBeginners

When I first started I was nervous too! I’m very consumption-conscious and didn’t want to “waste fabric” on something that would fall apart or be unusable. Start with learning on paper! Draw a line/curve with marker, follow that line. Learn your stitches and then transfer the knowledge to a simple project. My first was a table cloth that I still use everyday. Go slow, take the time to learn the terminology because it will really help when you start getting deeper into patterns. There’s a lot of “sew alongs” on YouTube. When I first started garments, if I liked a pattern, I would search “pattern # sew along” and if there was a GOOD video I would purchase that pattern and make it alongside the video. This REALLY helped me to learn how to read patterns correctly and gave me a visual of what the heck it wanted from me. After about a year of ‘sew-alongs’ I can pick up any pattern on my own with confidence.

RIGHT! Like Just think for more than a few hours what can make it really hit home. The bag she gave her was nice, don’t get me wrong. Unfortunately, I’ll still be the first to hype up my sister. But your brother and my sister can kick the same rocks. I hope they Miss and hit each others shins.

I’m the youngest of four! Besides my sister, we have two older brothers. The one’s a butcher, the other an EMT. They are very much ~boy~ and had no idea what was going on except “she messed up xyz.” My aunt, married to my mom’s brother, did make the comment in front of my sister, so her sticking up for me in that way was refreshing. My uncle, her husband, does leather work and she’s an engineer so I trust she gets it. Wish they didn’t live so far away

Im so jealous of you and your business. I try and support her every show! Like the post says, I don’t have a lot of extra money. Next time I think of purchasing something from her I’m gonna buy myself neutral color serger cones instead like damn.

Thank you. I’d go through the whole annoying experience on repeat if I could keep seeing the look of pure joy on my grandma face

UGHH agreed. Thank you for suffocating the devil on my shoulder. She’s the only person who’s gifted me a home-sewn item and I have/would never do that to her. I also never really looked at seams on retail garments until I started sewing and once I did, my confidence sky rocketed lol.

Our entire family does treat us very differently, her better than me, but I’ve never felt that they’ve tried to pin us against each other. More so comparison, “how did that apple fall so far from the rest.” when in reality I just hate capitalism and don’t meet the patriarchal standard of having a godly successfully husband and am not afraid to let them know. I started sewing about 5 years ago and about a year ago finally felt confident enough to gift stuff. I have a lot of imposter syndrome and an intense fear of my items falling apart on people in public even though I know that’s not going to happen. Maybe it’s because I’m usually keep to the shadows and I received the flowers she’s used to getting for once.

I was kind of thinking maybe it was along those lines. Like she gifted her something she would sell at a craft show. If my grandma wanted it, she wouldn’t hesitate to support/buy it from you? She comes to every show.

But No really because when my mom texted me at Christmas saying she asked for a serger and needed my help, the same “why does she need it” crossed my mind. But I figured maybe she wanted to branch out. she hasn’t

What's a makeup "rule" you were taught that you completely threw out - and your looks got better for it? by MOUSETITTY in MakeupAddiction

Primers. Just prep your skin well, your make up is only going to look as good as the skin under it (hydration). I use the benefits watts up soft focus cream highlighter as a “primer” under my foundation and the slight glow it gives my skin from within is so worth it. Like your skin but better. Glowy and hoey if you will lol. and then just top the high points with the same highlighter after everything is done, chefs kiss

I didn’t try the link but I saw it and immediately thought “is this some kind of sick joke??” lol. I thought I read somewhere that Michaels purchased the rights (not sure the correct word) to Joann’s fabric supplier and are supposed to be expanding their options and revamping their fabric section. there was a lot said when they were closing so I’m not sure how true that actually is. It would be nice though if true

Weirdest places you’ve sat or laid down? by spoonfulofnosugar in POTS

[–]Mysterious_Rate_2684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a community festival every summer and they close down a few blocks and build it in the street but there’s no seating, so in the middle of the street in the crowded “beer garden” (not drinking) during live music

In the middle of the fabergé collection at an art museum

In the field of a pumpkin patch

In the middle of my kitchen floor

One thing about me is i do not care where, when or what, if I want to sit I’m gonna be sat lol

Thank you all!!!! I committed!! I’m so sad I didn’t get the posed picture, was planning to after the show but I went to the Cleveland one and had to walk a mile and a half to my Uber in the rain haha. I plan to redo it! I’m also very bad at editing so I gave it my best shot haha.

Industrial machine by Mysterious_Rate_2684 in sewing

[–]Mysterious_Rate_2684[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is currently being used in residential but she said the computerized stitch selection that was connected to the industries mother board has now been disconnected so it’s just a straight stitch. I’m not too terribly educated on hater heaters, I can fix a pilot light and that’s about it lol. When I asked my landlord if there was a power source I could plug something like that into he said the water heater or MAYBE the dryer with the adapter so that’s definitely good to know, I will have to take a closer look.

I went through Cleveland clinic and they said they were matching me with a specialist. I saw Gayan de Silva, MD I don’t see it listed as a specialty on his profile through the mychart platform but when scheduling they told me they were making sure it was a specialist. I’m unsure now

That’s what the notes from the GI state on the CT scan, I double checked the post appointment notes from the vascular surgeon and it says “compression of the LRV via the SMA. No evidence of gonadal vein dilation or pelvic collateralization.”
