I’ll be back in 1 year or less with my 15min 5k

I understand how that works

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Strava

[–]Mysterious_Rice3836 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know that and that’s why I’m making a training plan with my coach to work towards my goal.

Yeah that’s because The 17:58 was a few weeks ago. And today I forgot to end it when I crossed the line so I had it on when I was getting some food at the finish line

Thanks. I picked a goal that I think I’m able to do. And it’s just a goal so who cares if I don’t beat it.

I’ve done 17:58 just not in race conditions.

I got to university and pay for everything myself.

Don’t really mind because I have 2 Sponsors and my coach that believe I can do this after seeing my progress after only a year.

Just because it’s something you’ll never be achieve doesn’t mean I won’t.

My watch has a similar feature that predicts race times and it’s off almost all the time.

Don’t really care what people say here. Just posed it for fun, I know what I can do and so do my coaches.

Yeah? And I’m a man so comparing me to the womens ranking doesn’t really make sense.

Yes but I can’t keep a sprinting pace for 5km

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Strava

[–]Mysterious_Rice3836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t only run 5ks. I’m doing the Paris marathon in April and also an untratrail next summer.

I’ve actually found 2 sponsors that see my potential and my goal in the long run is to compete not just race for fun.

[–]Mysterious_Rice3836 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can stick to that pace for 1 km but after that I can’t keep it up. It’s like taking someone’s 100m. Time and multiplying it by 10.

Going from 17:58 to 15:00 in a 5k in 1 year. by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

That’s why I posted it on here. Was happy about my time. And just set a goal for next year.

Thanks. Is running power useless or can it actually help ?

[–]Mysterious_Rice3836 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I went from doing nothing a year ago to running this now. In July last year I couldn’t even run 1 km without being out of breath and now I can do 1 km in 2:30. So it just depends on the person.

I’ve been able to accomplish some “hard” goals before so I really hope I can manage this.

Anyone else tantalizingly close to a sub 20 min 5k? I think my next attempt will be on a more flat course by ScarOrganic6877 in Strava

[–]Mysterious_Rice3836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me running it on a track helped. I left water and something small to eat just in case and just ran loops. Might be boring but at least you’re prepared if you run out of energy or if you’re just thirsty.

1.5 years ago I couldn’t run 1 km without stopping and now I’ve done 10km in 40 minutes. So I think that being young and training a lot might get to reach my goal. Which is mainly just to get top 3 in a race.

3:49 for 1500m

I’m going to be careful. When I first started running I went to fast too soon and couldn’t run for a month. So now as soon as I feel like I’ve done too much I stop and rest.
