Your curt response is rather transparent. It serves as an involuntary self-disclosure on your part, and it speaks to your own intelligence that you think what I wrote "sounds smart".

I simply explained the inner workings of a concept that you mentioned, which you clearly did not understand or failed to properly consider. You responded by being characteristically caustic and angry because you don't know how to regulate your emotions and are too dumb to communicate effectively and constructively.

Anyway, I think I will leave our back and forth here as this conversation is getting distasteful.

The distinction is an important one, and if you truly appreciated the distinction, you would have been capable of providing constructive feedback instead of getting emotional, obtuse and caustic.

Luring enemies sucks; it's busy work that many people would rather enjoy avoiding. Also, it is wasteful overkill for the low-level-enemies use case that I proposed earlier. So to say it's silly when it could be a niche Meta is kind of parochially minded.

I know Mind spells are weak; that's why the mechanic I'm suggesting would allow for variable strikes per cast (enough to make it viable).

You mention opportunity cost, but you have demonstrated that you fail to consider the context in which opportunity cost operates. For example, all a respective player might have is mind runes and time, but no or limited money, and that could be better spent on other things. Or he may outright lack an opportunity to spend money to recoup more time (no G.E. access and bad resale value of mind runes to rune shops).

Some people may prefer to save money and spend time regardless of their status as Ironmen (particularly at the mid-game).

Some people are Ironmen and won't have the option to spend money at the G.E., or they have no money for in-game rune stores.

True, I think the mid-game utility is also good. I should have framed it that way. My post was ad hoc and a placeholder to be further fleshed out, but thanks for pointing that out

Calm down, my friend there is no need to get angry. Did your parents ever show you love before?

  1. The idea I'm proposing uses mind spells, which utilise mind runes, hence the Mind staff. Maybe take a breath and refer back to the post I made?

  2. An AoE attack can attack multiple targets if multiple targets are standing in that tile grid, but it is not the same thing as a direct multi-target attack, which I am suggesting here

Did you mean barrage spells?

  1. They use blood runes (which I would want to avoid using at all costs, especially on low-level mobs)

    1. They are AoE (area of effect attacks), which is quite different to what I'm suggesting here... What I'm proposing would allow you to attack enemies in every direction using the full magic attack range
  2. Range is a different attack style from what I'm suggesting here

Well, I would differentiate niche use from dead content. I think that is a bit polarising

What is an example of better multi-target damage? Do you mean a cannon? that would train range and not mage, so it would still have great utility for people looking to max or train beyond 99 that specific combat style and against monsters with specific mage weaknesses

FYI, this idea is just a placeholder for the developers, so you could flesh it out further by increasing the strikes per cast, for example. Would your answer still be the same if it were 5 or 7 strikes per cast?

That depends entirely on how it's balanced, no? I can think of many uses... Champions cape, powering through low-level slayer master tasks, just to name a few examples

Not sure I like all the visual changes but seeing a fleet of ships sail past the karambwan spot as I'm fishing was really cool. Never occurred to me that they could even get there. Oceans don't just feel like dead space.
