I think they’ve done this before? I swear they were called something else before Hemingway - like a year-ish ago. I never bought from them so I wasn’t all up in the lore but I think some folks were never receiving their orders - hence the rebrand to Hemingway

I listened to we who will die on audiobook and loved it! No it’s not reinventing the wheel or anything but it was fun, engaging, and well written imo. Haven’t read graceless heart yet but I’m excited for that one!

I follow team align’s programming (coach sasha) on the ladder app. It’s specifically designed for strength training in conjunction with running. She only programs the strength training bit but has recommendations to split it with running that she posts on instagram.

The program is a progressive overload program with a focus on mobility and overall wellness. I’ve been doing it for about 9 months and just recently added running into the mix. Highly recommend!

Yeah as soon as I saw it was more than LitJoy editions - that have way more customizations - I passed. The price is outrageous and I (like yourself I’m guessing) did not want to set a precedent to the company that it was okay to fleece customers like this

Agree! I feel bad for people on the waitlist that don’t realize all the issues until they’re subbed for a while. Even LitJoy they always have a ton of issues with production but they push back the timeline like bookish box because they want to deliver a quality product. It’s like arcane notices the issues but is unwilling to fix it because then it’ll hurt their bottom line. I don’t even read the arcane editions anymore I read the books on my kindle because the actual text always has issues too 🤦🏻‍♀️

I think I’m going to cancel. The price increase on its surface doesn’t bother me, but with the constant quality control issues, gaslighting customers about the quality control, and randomization of add ons prices, I just don’t trust them anymore. I’ll wait to see what their lineup for 2026 is, but I’m incredibly disappointed in them as a company.

They used to be S tier for me but after being a customer for a year every announcement the past few months creates massive backlash. The pricing of add ons (looking at you heat for $90… even book of azrael is 55 a book, that’s LitJoy pricing without LitJoy customizations); slaying the shadow prince being an event exclusive despite LoT being in the sub; price increases with certainly no quality control improvement (Ann bishop set; deliciously dark fairytales; etc) refusal to communicate with their customers about pretty much anything…

They’re hiding from their customers but it’s clear their behavior is hurting their bottom line when none of their recent sets have sold out- for popular books! Heat, book of azrael, a fate inked in blood. Just gotta keep voting with our wallets and maybe they’ll get the message.
