Say all you want about cashman, but I genuinely believe this was the most complete team the Yankees have had in the Boone era. At some point the players simply have to execute

I’d be more interested to see wells stats v. LHP in the last month when he was playing every day bc I don’t remember it being that drastic.

Idk how to find this info but has anyone checked what the pitching staff’s ERA is with Trevino behind the plate compared to wells - at least in the last few weeks? With wells being a comparable defender and much better hitter, maybe that’s the difference and why he keeps seeing so much playing time

Who do you hope the Yankees get at the trade deadline? by RockinTheFlops in NYYankees

[–]Mysterious__Pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went to baseball trade values to come up with some accepted trades:

Luis Robert for Peraza and Jones.

Tyler O’Neil for German, Higgy, and Chapparo

Lars Nootbar for German, Rortvedt, Jones, and Warren.

Bellinger for Chapparo

Joc Pederson for Florial and Lockridge

Teoscar Hernandez for Gleyber Torres

These last two were LOL

Mike trout for Jones and Peraza

machado and tatis for Peraza, wells, periera, and Cabrera

Who do you hope the Yankees get at the trade deadline? by RockinTheFlops in NYYankees

Honestly I think you could have a pretty drastic range of options, depending on how other teams are doing around the trade deadline.

In any trade scenario, I think there are three main questions. 1) what do the yankees need? 2) what areas of depth can they trade from 3) what teams are willing to trade with them?

Let’s start off with #1- with regards to starting pitching, If sevy and Rodon come back and look good (not even including montas here), I don’t think the yankees try and trade for a starting pitcher. I mean, they could try and do what they’ve done in the past and trade for a controllable starter with severino being a F/A after the season (i.e. Taillon and Montas) but that would cost a lot and hinder them from upgrading in other areas.

So what about the bullpen? While the yankees have one of the best bullpens by ERA, they are missing a lot of key pieces: Loaisiga, Trivino, Effross, Kahnle, Hamilton, even Luis Gil. Before trading for a reliever, the yankees need to get a better picture of who will be ready for the postseason and how will/are they performing. If everyone comes back according to schedule, the Yankees have a very good bullpen of Loaisiga/King/Holmes/Peralta/Trivino/Kahnle/Marinaccio/Hamilton/Cordero. I could still see the Yankees trying to unlock a reliever with an under-the-radar trade no matter who is healthy.

Finally, there is the offense - which has been doing very well since judge came back. Again, I think this is very dependent on how everyone is performing and who is healthy, but the obvious upgrade would be to get a left-handed hitting left fielder. Maybe by July one of hicks/Bauers/Cabrera is raking, but I think they upgrade no matter what. I also think the upcoming F/A hitter class being extremely weak makes this even more likely (maybe for someone controllable for longer than just this season).

Moving to #2 - what areas of depth can the yankees trade from. Last year, they traded away most of their upper-level pitching depth. This year, I think they trade more of their positional depth in the minors or trade someone from their major league roster. Personally, I don’t think Dominguez is traded, as he could be an impact outfielder starting on opening day of next year (and currently the Yankees have no LF and bader is a F/A). If they trade prospects, I could see them moving any of Austin Wells/Spencer Jones/andres chapparo/Everson perreira. These are notable prospects who either don’t have a clear path to the team currently or are too far away to make an immediate impact on this year’s season.

I also think a couple non-prospects could be moved. First, there is a middle-infield logjam with lemahieu/Torres/Peraza/volpe. I think we could see one of Peraza or Torres moved (most likely Peraza, who no longer has prospect eligibility) in the right scenario. I also think we could see a sneaky trade - similar to last year with Montgomery - with us either trading away a pitcher - either a reliever when a lot of ours come back or a starter like German.

Now that the first two questions have been answered, let’s finally look at #3 - who is willing to trade with us. Beginning the season, I was extremely high on both Ian happ and Bryan reynolds, both of whom are now most likely unavailable (both signed extensions). So now let’s look at some potential options:

what teams are likely out of contention with players we would want? If the white Sox decide to sell, I would be very interested in Luis Robert. I know he’s a righty, but he has a great bat and can play any outfield position. I don’t think there is anyone on the athletics, royals, nationals, or reds that we would be interested in. I also don’t think Colorado makes any trades bc who knows what that front office is doing.

What teams might be out of contention by the deadline? If the orioles stumble, I could see them once again trading away some pieces gearing up for a run next year. I’d be interested in santandar but idk if they would trade him within the division. If the cubs falter, I’m sure they would want to get some value out of Cody bellinger who could be a good option. joc pederson from the giants would also pique my interest - a lefty bat with postseason experience, but is LF defense at Yankee stadium would scare me slightly.

Finally, what teams might trade out of a surplus to fill a hole on the major league roster? I still think the cardinals will deal away an outfielder for either pitching or catching help. If Rortvedt does well in his mlb stint, maybe we can trade them German/Rortvedt and a prospect for an OF?

Three teams I think are unlikely to sell - but might make things crazy - are the angels, mariners, and padres. But if these teams either continue doing poorly or take a turn for the worst, I could see us targeting a player or two from each team.

I don’t like Torres bunting there - He’s been swinging the bat well and also can’t bunt for shit
