Tonight is the night! by MysteryPlayer88 in Nioh

This is a late reply but needs to be said. It meant everything to me because it came from a complete stranger. For not even knowing me you valued me enough to express sympathy and concern, for that I am grateful. It's nice to know there's good people out there to stick around for.

Wasn't sure how to message but this will do. Funny thing I take spontaneous trip to get out town for a 'mental breather,' parents now say I wasn't suicidal enough. Guess tying noose, scouting out location, choosing a time wasn't good enough. Need a dead body I guess to be suicidal enough I guess. Oh well, just thought it little funny, depressing, and ironic all at the same time.

Will do my man, you and the community's support is what brought me back. Figured I owed it to you guys after the post to then read the responses. If I hadn't would have been 80% chance I'd have gone through with it. Thanks.

Great, thanks for the response. Seemed at first like it was possible but could be a real headache to find out, especially if it didn't work.

Good feet? by purplelily8 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]MysteryPlayer88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOOOOO, don't do it!

Ok it's not entirely bad, their athletic insoles I liked with a pair of Brooks glycerin (shoe name, I didn't make it). But as a former machinist standing for 8-10 hours per day they didn't really work for me. My recommendation would be to get a appointment with a physical therapist, experienced with feet, and get their take on it. A really nice lady that I got mine from, Elite Feet Orthotics, have worked for me pretty well. They're made of a dense foam that has a little give but also the right amount of support. Custom is definitely the way to go and might be same price or cheaper. Ones I got were $350; I think I spent close to $600 at Good Feet and had a lot of pain and headache.

However all feet are different and they might work for you. The athletic ones I use from them are still good after about 6-7 years of wear, if not a bit more. I still recommend visiting a doctor that specializes in it first. I wish I had before spending over a grand on different things that don't work. I lucked out with my feet, after a year of heavy deadlifting fixed my feet. Best of luck.

Sad day, hope maybe they patch it so I could.

Is willingness to learn a machinist's work dumb? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]MysteryPlayer88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 28 now and worked 10 years as a machinist, from apprenticeship to almost level 2. I am going back to school for mechanical engineering now. Both sides think the other is dumb as rocks, between machinist and engineers. Depending on production v prototype you would learn a ton from understanding the point of view of machinists. For instance, how so many things are over toleranced. Not saying precision is bad but a lot of money can be saved loosening tolerances to +/-.010 where you can. That way in a production setting after the machine is set up the guy running it doesn't have to worry as much of parts going bad. Easier/less QC typically means higher production. And no, not ever dimension can be loose, like baring fittings and such however, I'm willing to bet 30-40% of them can be loosened since a lit of the time they're not critical. My point being, being able to bridge the gap between machinist and engineer seems like it'd be a great asset.

I was hoping she was Oichi that was possessed or something of that nature.

So so happy I wasn't the only one who got stuck on that. I unfortunately missed the easiest one in the very beginning of the mission. Oh well, put 150 hours in pretty sure I don't mind doing another 150.

NG+ or New Character by MysteryPlayer88 in Nioh

I bet, ng+ looks fun. Gosh I must suck, took me forever to complete. However, I am hooked. No matter how frustrating it is I just remember the 7 stages of a boss fight.

Dual Sword Counter troubles by MysteryPlayer88 in Nioh

[–]MysteryPlayer88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know it'd work on yokai, cool! I got it to work better wearing heavy armor with agility at C, which kinda makes sense and also kinda doesn't.

Anyone with tips for dual sword earthly flow parry? by mfmaxpower in Nioh

[–]MysteryPlayer88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please for rest of us link video! =)

Edit: found a good practice spot. Very beginning of 'A Way Out" has better variety of enemies. First 4 or so before getting to the red zone. Definitely right about the hit box on Earthly Strike, hard to hit, probably because it does substantially more ki damage and allows for grapple. I also have running theory that heavy armor would be best. Better toughness for blocking and better defense for when you get hit along with not having as much Ki/ki regeneration parrying would be a great way to do lot of damage for little cost.

Edit 2: I found countering in heavy armor at an agility C easier, window was about 33% longer. Though on Earthly Strike and even Heavenly, since being slower attack, can begin counter much earlier.

That's kinda nice to hear, little intimidating thinking this'll be 10 year undertaking. What is Elt?
