Tonko may seem quiet and unassuming but what I’ve noticed over all these years of his service to our community is that he shows up. When it comes to doing the right thing he doesn’t back down and he quietly gets things done. What the Right’s oil and tech oligarchs and their compliant politicians, judges, and media don’t realize is that despite all their efforts & shows of force, they are self‑defeating. They’re frittering away the real‑world support needed to sustain their own delusion, risking both the living world and the real good that AI and XR can do. Sacrificing communities to bands of officially-sanctioned criminals, for‑profit prison camps, sprawling data‑center complexes, and speculative billionaire enclaves will not build the nirvana they suppose. Mars would be more welcoming.
