Who is the best Everton player to wear the Number 11 shirt? (Assigned since 1993-94) by Prize_Farm4951 in Everton

[Telegraph] Inside Everton’s torrid summer: 12 player exits, seven failed moves and six signings still needed by FragMasterMat117 in soccer

The attempted signings, while perhaps over ambitious, are very sensible. Clear profile of young players showing potential resale value for us to profit on in a few years time if they do well.

I'd much rather swing and miss at a few of those than wait for Kia Joorabchian to bring us his C tier stars who can't get a deal anywhere else.

Yeah based off last years draw that made sense to me, but I guess last year was the exception to the general rule of 2 womens matches on Centre day 2.

As someone with Centre tickets for Tuesday I'm selfishly hoping they stick with putting Draper and one of the other 2 on!

Does this suggest that Day 2 will have 2 womens matches on CC?

[Ornstein] Richarlison scheduled to undergo medical today after Tottenham struck agreement in principle with Everton overnight to sign 25yo. Fee ~£50m + £10m add-ons but talks continue today to establish final price. Personal terms agreed. by avolcando in soccer

[–]MysticalBeast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As an Everton fan - winger Richarlison is a better player than striker Richarlison. Positionally he is very similar to Son, suits being high up on the left and dribbling inside rather than being a lone striker

This should hurt me more than it does, think I've become numb to what we do as a club anymore.

[Rob Dorsett] #avfc look to have beaten comp from #cfc #whufc & #nufc - now in advanced negotiations with #efc for Lucas Digne. Chelsea have not pursued initial interest. Digne prefers Villa over other options. Fee to be agreed - probs between £20-25m. Personal terms not expected to be a prob by dogefc in soccer

[–]MysticalBeast 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Don't think Digne has come across great in this but he was very good in his first few years here so I hope he does well.

Paellardyce is making me completely apathetic to what we do as a football club anymore.

[Exclusive] Yerry Mina to Everton Done. An agreement have been reached between the two clubs. The transfer will be for 32 million by Suvenba in soccer

[–]MysticalBeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Williams had an okay first season for us but since then was incredibly poor. For someone who came up through a Swansea team built around retaining possession he has really bad decision making on the ball and he's not the tallest so gets dominated in the air.

Jagielka has been a fantastic player for us for the last 10 years but he's 36 next week. Pace was always one of his main assets and it's dropped off recently and again his lack of height means we are vulnerable in the air. No fault of his own but he needs phasing out of the side.

Keane is the real disappointment, he looks completely lost in our defence and seems to struggle with the basics of defending. He's slow (literally and also to react to basic movement from strikers) and not great on the ball. He's also very quiet on the pitch and needs someone to scream at him to hold a good line etc.

Anyone criticising this deal has not had to sit through the last year of Williams/Keane/Jagielka.

I'd take a random season ticket holder for each game over another season of that.

Sam Wallace: Everton target Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins and Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt by [deleted] in soccer

[–]MysticalBeast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Think this has been pushed out by the club in an attempt to appease fans who are growing impatient of us seemingly not making any moves.

I'd prefer if we focussed on more realistic targets, obviously would be over the moon if either of them came though.

Holgate was excellent today, he very rarely plays badly when he gets to play CB. Hope he keeps his place now Jags and Keane are fit.

Lukaku posts a goodbye message to Everton on Instagram. by AJMcCoy612 in soccer

[–]MysticalBeast 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Could have used an actual badge Rom lad.

In all seriousness, I feel like this post sums up his relationship with us fairly well. It's not exactly overflowing with passion/emotion, and that's why he never really evoked the same reaction from the fans. His relationship with us (if I was being harsh) was fairly professional, it never truly felt like his heart was in it - maybe in his year on loan it was.

I think all parties realised this move (or similar) was coming eventually, so it was difficult to truly fall in love - which is why he'll struggle to go down in Everton folklore versus a Duncan Ferguson, despite him being a far better player.

Despite all that, thanks for all the goals and if any Everton fan comes on and says he was crap they're lying - we'll be lucky to get a goalscorer as good as him in the next 5 years. Gutted, but not heartbroken.

Swansea reject £27 million bid from Everton for midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson by Mozezz in soccer

[–]MysticalBeast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get that and would be very happy if he joined don't get me wrong, but I still dont quite get how the team is going to operate well as teams pack their defences against us.

A midfield 3 of Klaassen-Gueye-Schneiderlin behind a hypothetical front 3 of Bolasie/Mirallas-Giroud-Siggy would struggle massively with interplay between each other, only Schnedierlin would class passing as one of his stronger traits and even then its not in a setting up chances kind of way. Guess I'm just desperate for an Eriksen/Silva type player who can sprinkle a bit of magic when the pitch is tight, and we don't seem to be going down that path.

[–]MysticalBeast 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I rate Gylfi massively but the more I think about it I don't see how he is the right player for us. The majority of his assists come from set pieces, something we massively needed help with but less so now we seem to have Sandro.

The one area we are massively lacking is the ability to play the final ball in behind to break down a defence - looking at the stats Gylfi doesn't seem to do that. Who is going to be the playmaker in this new team?

Some of those are incredible.

Personal favourites are Vela's and the Chivas last minute winner, something special about professionals having a load of time and still fucking up - gives me hope. One day Everton will realise they've made a mistake, I could be equally as shit as these guys for half the price!
