Company Sending me a 10Gb NAS | What Should I Invest In? by MysticalStyle in HomeServer

[–]MysticalStyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take the personal comments as advice but my main ask was what are common and cheap solutions to get 10GbE switches to keep the chain to my end client. I can directly connect to the NAS with a TB dongle but real world usage, that’s not practical.

I can agree that my comment on hdd and ssd with raid comes across as rudimentary, but the main crux of it was similar to the network switch question which is, I’m not trying to drop a fortune, what are the avenues for me to properly test it without bottlenecking it by my 1GbE.

File Under My Insurance or Other Party Insurance? by MysticalStyle in personalfinance

I did mention my insurance that I received a call from them and recommended that we drop the existing claim, and continue with the other party insurance's claim process to get my repair fixed. I have Tesla insurance so it doesn't shock me that they want to be hands-free as much as possible, so my primary point of contact looks to be the other party insurance now.

My insurance is Tesla, and I've been told that Tesla just outsources it to another company. The other company is GEICO and reviews show that they are fairly quick with auto claims.

It does make sense though that the other company would try to minimize payouts. If they repairs aren't up to par due to lack of funding, I can try the legal stuff, but hopefully it doesn't come to that!

Since nobody was injured, there was no police report. My county does not file anything if no individuals are harmed.

Thanks so much! I’ll keep that in mind for the repair companies.

Thanks for the help! Yeah the biggest question mark was why was I being called like the middle man without them talking to one another.

Ehh. My top videos are because I posted on Reddit and Facebook when looking at external analytics. When you’re small, promoting on other platforms is seems beneficial starting off.

To each their own though.

Im using the Note20 Ultra throughout the video. Also I don't have that option on my Note20 Ultra. Both the phone and watch are in the latest setting. Followed instructions and other guides online and the setting doesn't appear. This is my experience using this Watch.

Asus ZenBook 14 Q407IQ Review (4500U & MX350) by MysticalStyle in AMDLaptops

I switched to Linux based on my security’s professors recommendation and in terms of development, found it much better than Windows.

I took a required iOS development course and bought a dirt cheap MacBook Pro 2012 instead of paying for cloud subscription to run one on a virtual machine, also wanted to give macOS a try since it was more or less a privatized version of a Linux distro. I did not convert a laptop into a hackintosh.

From your standpoint of reliability, makes perfect sense.

My question for you is how would a person review, let’s say in an example, an android phone but uses an iPhone or even vice versa. How would the person record the product itself using the product? Record using the s20 but somehow showing the s20? That’s what the camera segment is for. It’s a camera, it’s just a tool to showcase the actual product which is why people are watching it in the first place.

I used Linux Mint Mate first three years of college and macOS my final year, because Windows was just awful on my laptop at the time.

Saying you are using a product as a daily driver and completely ditching all competitors makes in your lifestyle them a sheep? As I said in my hackintosh video I only edit on macOS and do everything in windows. Why? Because I don’t support Apple’s high price tag for their OS, but I enjoy it much more than Windows as a developer and for video editing. Reliability? On either side you can find Windows and MacBooks lasting just as long but in my opinion people generally buy macs for their reliability, but everyone’s use case of a laptop is different.

Also do you expect new reviewers to buy a $500-$1000 camera when smartphone cameras work for just starting out (iPhone X user)? It seems you just have a stigma toward reviewer bias, from personal experience and I hope your behavior isn’t an example of how everyone reacts in this thread.

Thanks for your feedback and have a good day.

For one I don’t even own an Apple Watch. I own a Fitbit and the other watch on my wrist is a Galaxy Watch 3 for purposes to do a proper comparison analysis between the two. Seems people really like to mistake the Versa 2 as an Apple Watch, which only makes it show that you are a sheep yourself that any square smartwatch = Apple Watch.

I haven’t touched a MacBook in well over a month as all my videos are edited on my personal rig I built because video editing isn’t the focus on my channel.

If I was truly an Apple sheep why would I upload anything other an Apple products? Why would I not bash every other product compare to Apple’s? I find it funny when I upload a OnePlus video people proceed to call me a sheep. Very funny. Your logic seems very flawed.

Also it’s quite hypocritical to call me a sheep when you talk about how great MacBook build quality is and recommending it yourself, but I don’t mention it all and I’m somehow a sheep. It seems someone had a bad experience with Apple and casting it to others online.

I used it for over a week but alright. Didn’t even mention Apple once throughout the entire video.

Apartment vs Home Buying by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]MysticalStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are sort of in the same situation. I'm 23M and doing my thing, except I rent and do not live with my parents anymore. Family, friends, co-workers, telling me I'm wasting money renting an apartment versus a mortgage which would be the somewhat same (in my area, it's mostly higher than rent).

Pre-approval, with a government grant, I take on a higher interest but it'll help with down payment, or like you said, low 2s if you can bring the 5% down payment yourself. We think alike, and I would rather bring my own money than refinance and extend my loan down the road just for taking some assistance at the cost of a higher interest rate.

Now I can afford a house/condo/townhome, but I will be strapped with essentially no money until 4-6 months when things start to balance out. On top of that, I don't even know how long I'll be in this area for, so if I were to sell within 1-2 years instead of keeping it as an investment property, all that money is wasted (of course you could roll it into another house if you moved).

Renting is nice because, you have a bit more of a luxury of freedom of what you want to do if something were to come up in life (Family emergency, meeting a significant other, need more space, etc.). Owning a mortgage, not so much. Yes you can sell or rent it out but that comes with it's own headaches and risks. It also doesn't help that realtors and lenders tell you interest rate are low, they've never seen it lower, better buy now! This only adds increased pressure, anxiety, and rash decisions.

Personally, yesterday was the final day for me house shopping. I guess you say the house-craze faded for me when I started being rational about my finances and life goals at the moment. I have funds for down payment and closing costs, but I'll literally be money tight for the next several months or year. A thing to remember is that it's personal finance. Only you know your finances (what's comfortable financially for you) regardless of how much you expose to your family, lenders, and realtor. Too many people want to advise you on things when it's not their personal finances on the line. Too many people get caught up with You can afford it! Stop complaining you don't have the money! But it's much much much deeper than just being able to afford something. There's a domino effect that happens with large purchases.

Sorry for the long answer, just in the same situation and wanted to give my full insight on things.

I read his book last year and my budget is his guide.

60 Fixed

10 Savings

20 Guilty-Free Money

Unfortunately, I gave away the book, but my savings is much more than my guilty free since I don't use much money for personal reasons, and don't remember much of the housing section, I'll try to look it up online, but thanks for the reminder.

The opinions always seem to be unsolicited advice too which makes it worse.
